In this One Piece Borsalino Kizaru character analysis I discuss the role of Kizaru in the one piece manga and the one piece anime. Kizaru is one of the marine admirals and wields the power of the light logia devil fruit. Important moments for his character include the capture of arlong, the fight on sabaody against the straw hats and the supernova as well as the marine ford war. Kizaru follows the path of unclear justice, which is very different from the lazy justice of Aokiji or the absoulte justice of akainu.

akaino and aokiji's devil fruits both fit their style of justice really well: magma doesnt discriminate, it just swallows up and destroys everything in its path, and ice is delicate and allows aokiji to isolate and capture those most deserving of justice. Kizaru's fruit on the other hand is kind of ironic, as his sense of justice is so ineffable and confusing when light is usually seen as something that reveals and increases understanding/clarity.

I think unclear justice refers to Kizaru's lack of ambition combined with his obedience. Kizaru is personally unclear on what justice is, so he takes a wait-and-see approach and just follows orders.

i imagine kizaru to be similar to saitama in that hes so powerful that hes bored with life. he easily rose to the rank of admiral in the marines and has one of if not the most powerful devil fruits in the entire series, not to mention hes most likely also highly skilled in observation and armament haki and their advanced forms. since hes so powerful he feels that there isnt anyone he can actually fight on equal terms with so he eventually grew to be very lax and slow. as a consequence hes lost most direction in his life and just sits back and let people tell him what to do without putting in more effort than he has to.

One possible interpretation of Kizaru that wasn't mentioned in the video. It could be implying that he's unsure of the justice of the Marines in general, doubting that what they've become is right. He could only be staying to see if it's worth keeping in the future... Weighing his options so to speak.

So kinda like Hawkins, but on the marine side. I think there is way more to him than he lets on, the picture that depicts him as a child tells us that he is very interested in knowledge or history. Or he was reading various hero storys and deep down that's what he wants to be. I think he hates the current system but cant change it, so he is maybe waiting for the right opportunity. There is even a theory that says Kizaru let the Supernova escape at Sabaody so that they can become stronger and enable change in the world - whatever change Kizaru himself wants is unclear tho. I think that's also my best bet so far.

I believe he, contrary to the other 2 original admirals, represents no justice. We have 2 extremes and 1 neutral middle or we have 3 extremes with the third being no sense of justice at all which is why he only takes orders and doesn’t seem to care about anything.

@@Jsims111 My theory on kizaru’s power is that his main two limitations are that in order to move at the speed of light he can only travel on a straight line like light and is massless. When kizaru was first introduced, he was standing on top of a canon ball while it was being shot (showing his ability to become massless). And him only being able to travel in straight lines is show with his light mirror where he has to map out and calculated where he wants to go by reflecting off things. So when he goes to kick someone at light speed I think he turns back to a solid right before impact (otherwise he’ll just bounce off them being massless) so the impact is just below light speed due to the loss of speed in that conversion back to normal. One piece characters are built different but still I think an actual light speed kick would obliterate anyone. Another thing is that I think when he creates laser or his light sword, he’s compressing light down in order to create those lasers but I don’t think he can compress the light of his body. Seeing as whenever he shoots a laser at someone it seems to go right through them, if his light leg was the same intensity then he really should erase anyone he licks. So he can’t focus the light he transforms his body into like he can the light he creates outside his body.

The main reason Kizaru is so fearless is cause he knows that he's the fastest. He knows that he can easily avoid a deadly blow right before the millisecond when it actually hits him. He dodged Zephyr's Dyna stone explosion point blank with no difficulty whatsoever

I’d like to say that Kizarus justice might seem unclear but that’s from the standpoint of the world government and more importantly, the world nobels. He single handed defeats everyone of the Supernovas but captured none (mostly standing on Luffy and his crew), but captured none of them. He might have known that morally Luffy did the right thing by saving the slaves and putting an end of the nobels abuse of power there. Kizaru then having foresight of some scope knew what Kuma would have done, he then put up the facade of defeating the straw hats but took none of them into custody as to let the moral victory go to them while he captured the other pirates as to make it seem like he did his job to the letter in the face of said Nobels.

My theory on kizaru’s power is that his main two limitations are that in order to move at the speed of light he can only travel on a straight line like light and is massless. When kizaru was first introduced, he was standing on top of a canon ball while it was being shot (showing his ability to become massless). And him only being able to travel in straight lines is show with his light mirror where he has to map out and calculated where he wants to go by reflecting off things. So when he goes to kick someone at light speed I think he turns back to a solid right before impact (otherwise he’ll just bounce off them being massless) so the impact is just below light speed due to the loss of speed in that conversion back to normal. One piece characters are built different but still I think an actual light speed kick would obliterate anyone. Another thing is that I think when he creates laser or his light sword, he’s compressing light down in order to create those lasers but I don’t think he can compress the light of his body. Seeing as whenever he shoots a laser at someone it seems to go right through them, if his light leg was the same intensity then he really should erase anyone he licks. So he can’t focus the light he transforms his body into like he can the light he creates outside his body.

Considering how constantly chill and unmove kizaru is by anything, I REALLY want to see him in a fight where he just absolutely looses it. Just full on rage mode Kizaru. Considering his personality I think Kizaru would be by far the scariest of the Admirals, if not all characters, to see in total rage mode and I would love it.

Imagine this scenario: Sakazuki tells him he doesnt do his job right and that the marine isnt what he thinks it is. Kizaru has false expectations and over the years simply accepted them seen that he prefers to recieve orders even by subordinates. Kizaru agrees and decides to leave the marine he drops the newspaper in hand and beams out of the window saying "fine Ill do it myself then". Close up newspaper article: Luffy faces off kaidou and big mom. Fast forward kaidou big mom vs luffy. Luffy seems almost defeated but then the night turns into a day and a big huuuuge light appears and crashes down with an explosion bigger than anything seen before. Everybody has their iconic super shocked and in fear small shaking eyes face and Kizaru appears in the center of that beam "Seems like I was a bit slow" -Kizaru About to end kaidos war

Out of the original three Admirals, kizaru for me was the strangest of them. He was so different from Akainu and Aokijis way of thinking, being so laid Back in some sort yet easily defeating mere "scrub" pirates and almost all of the worst Generation. Yet the moment He and the other Admirals started working in the paramount war, it was clear Mister high as a kite- zaru was one of the mysteries Charakters. Let alone the moment where shanks stopped the war and Ben Beckmann warned him about attacking was the moment kizaru had become a Strangely beloved Charakter in my eyes, Just because he kinda played around as He sarcastically said "oh it's Ben Beckmann". His facial expression and the sarcastic manner of His surrender was so awesome.

I think i understand Kizaru now, and what the true form of "unclear" justice means. "Unclear" doesn't mean what we think it means, we think of it in the sense of "unknown", while in reality what is means is "inaccurate" in the context of Kizaru. Think about it, how overpowered is Kizaru really? He probably understands that if he blindly just follows orders and lets the world government order him around, then he would quickly stop being a figure of "justice", solely because that would literally be like him playing god. Kizaru is forced to follow the path of "inaccurate" justice because even though he serves justice, he chooses to do so in alternate ways as to not play god too much, and let fate play out instead. If Kizaru TRULY wanted to, he could easily exact complete justice upon the world, but then what state would that leave the world in? Now we have a world free from crime, where the world government is free to do literally whatever they want, and it would be a nightmarish world. Kizaro understands this, so he chooses the path of UNCLEAR justice, where he gives fate a chance.

Kizaru is kinda a wild card among the admirals. The fact that he is the only one of the original admirals that is still in the same position makes it questionable if Oda has something else in store for him or if he really just exists to fill out the third spot among the admirals. And given that we are talking about Oda here, I think it is more likely that he does have a plan for Kizaru. Him not capturing any of the supernovas also makes sense given some revelations in the manga about one of the supernovas.

Counterintuitively, Kizaru embodies light, since according to quantum physics, light is not as straight-forward as people might think, figuratively and literally, as it can appear both as a particle and a wave. It ties to his ideology of unclear justice, in that just like light has two indetermined states, manifested as one whenever observed, his unclearness may eventually fade away and we'll see his undecidedness settle. It is a seemingly contradictory character, portraying a slow-mannered authority with the ironic power of not only the fastest speed to conceive -- that of light -- but also of the speed of causality, after which the order of the universe starts to break down, and while his justice may not have a sensible direction, it still continues steadily and accordingly, without rush and without stop, in the layed-back fashion of the massless light, carrying no weight. This could be interpereted as his following of the rules of the system that he's in -- the world government -- and remaining in control despite not being able to follow his ever-changing self, as he is set free from the physical constraints of mass in place for energy's purest form.

The fruit that gives morale and boosts the strength of normal fodder characters and makes then super strong, the fruit that gives control over hormones to significantly boost ones abilities all around, karasus crow fruit that makes travelling and recon super easy, morleys fruit which makes stealth and underground travel very possible and devestating against large groups of people, and dragons wind logia is perfect for overall destruction, travel, terror, creating storms, making a tailwind for much quicker ship travel, demolish enemy ships, coupled in with sabos fruit they are a devestating duo. See how each of the fruits perfectly fit the theme of an army?

The fact that Kizaru wanted to go alone vs Big Mom and Kaido makes him either an Idiot or super overpowered. But he for sure is the most interesting character. His Devil Fruit alone makes him one of the Strongest Characters. Light has only Darkness as a counter and that fruit belongs to Blackbeard who so far showed to be a miserable Fighter.. almost loosing to Ace and getting completely wrecked by a Whitebeard that was basically just a walking corpse at this point in Time (not to mention what Magellan did to him). Unless he has a rather weak Haki i dont see him ever really loosing a battle if he finally goes all out. His battle with Rayleigh was just a few lazy sword swings.

I'd lean with super OP. He can end any battle with speed + mass if he wants to. Now try to imagine a kick or an attack reinforced with advanced haki + the speed of light. He'll turn anyone into a polka dots version of dead Ace in a nano second if he really goes full potential.

I don't see him becoming fleet admiral, but I do see him possibly being an inspector general like Sengoku after the Navy gets reformed. Sengoku and Kizaru's sense of justice are both almost alike, the only difference is Sengoku's "Reigning Justice" is more strict and aggresive than Kizaru's "Unclear Justice".

Perhaps Kizaru has realized after watching Luffy and the staw hats, that they may be akin to a 'neccesary evil' and sees the good they do. But also wants to do his job as a admiral.

Hundred beast Kaido Akainu just has the fruit with the most offensive power in the series, stated by Oda himself. But Kizaru is a horrible matchup for Akainu, he could easily speed blitz him and we have no reason to believe Akainu can match Kizaru’s speed. Shit Akainu with a clear advantage over Aokiji still fought him for days and it almost ended in a stalemate. Akainu has the strongest Devil Fruit, but I don’t believe he’s the strongest admiral at all, just the most tenacious.

All the admiral are Ironic. Kizaru, made of light, slow AF, and follows unclear justice. Akainu, made of magma, has a cold heart, and justice is solid. Aokiji, made of ice, a s warm to people like Luffy, and justice is fluid. Fujitora is blind, yet can see clearer than the other admirals, acknowledging Luffy as the hero, not the marines. His justice is clear to see by anyone who meets him.
