I think that's the deal in all of Europe. I spoke to some Latin Americans living in various European countries; 1 Dominican living in Finland, 2 Mexicans in Germany, 1 Guatemalan in Sweden, 1 Chilean in Norway, and 1 Bolivian in Netherlands. They all said the same thing: They get confuse for Middle Eastern and when they tell them they are from Latin America those same europeans who ask if they are middle eastern get so curious about them and asks all sort of questions about Latin America. They also mention that they face little to no racism compared to the Middle Easterners in Europe who are pretty hated yet Europeans don't mind Latin Americans; hell the 2 Mexicans in Germany mention that even German Conservatives and Neo-Nazis leave them be. Granted they still do face racism but not on the large scale like Middle Easterns and Romano people

How does it come that Latin America is concidered by Duch government as "non-western" region? Since Latin America is located further werstern than any european country despite its culture is heired from Spain and Portugal (Language, History, Religion, Architecture, music). It makes me thing: are USA and Canada considered as "non-western" countries either? same for Spain and Portugal. PS: Latin America is not only South America and vice versa.

Ocelot western countries is another term for rich countries. America and Canada are rich, but latin countries are poor. Same with asia. We consider Japan part of the western world, but not China. China is the 2nd biggest economy but it doesn’t share western values and most of the population is poor.

Let's recall back in the 16th Century at onetime, the Dutch and Latin-Americans were once family in the old and former Spanish Empire 🇪🇸. Until the Reformation of Martin Luther, the Dutch revolt against the Spanish Crown of the Hapsburgs to declare their independence by supporting the Reformation. The consequence of centuries later, that would inspired Latin-Americans following the same path for independence. The Dutch with my respect were once one of Europe's early republics long before the United States, France and half of the 🌎. My respect to the Netherlands, love Heineken amd their Gouda. From this Mexican-American in Inglewood, CA 🇺🇸.

We've got quite a lot of Latin-American people here, not to mention people from the Caribbean part of our Kingdom (Aruba, Curaçao, Bonair, Saba, St Martin/Sint-Maarten and St Eustace. We also have people from one of our former Latin-American Colony Surinam,....so lots of Latin and Latin-American people here. There are of course many Portugese and Spanish speakers from The Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of Portugal too and of Portugese African former colonies. So, a very welcoming environment i'd say, lots of organisations for all these people too. And don't forget of course our Queen Consort Her Majesty Queen Maxima van Oranje-Nassau of the Netherlands is an Argentine by birth. (Maxima Zorreguieta, Buenos Aires AR) Making our 3 Princesses (including the Crown Princess Her Royal Highness Princess Catherina-Amalia Princess of Orange) all half Argentine/Latin-American. Welkom in Nederland 👍😆.

Suriname is not Latin American and we are very, very different from Antilleans. I would love to go to the Netherlands, but it looks so damn cold and gray. Amsterdam and Rotterdam look so dull. I think that Utrecht and Limburg might be better, but maybe I am wrong. The best part in Europe though is Spain, South France and Italy. There the people are more alike us.

Zo snappen veel andere mensen wat ik bedoel,....je wil niet weten hoeveel mensen denken dat Holland een land is en nooit gehoord hebben van Nederland of in het Engels "The Netherlands", zelfs niet dat het een Koninkrijk is en een Monarch heeft. The biggest group by far are mestizo Eurasians called Indo’s from the former Dutch East Indies. But they are not considered as immigrants.

I'm Hispanic and I like The Netherlands landscape and I really would like to move there but I'm not sure about racism, I don't know if is me but when I was in the Army and went to Iraq and walked through the Europeans airports i felt like I was being stared down as a freak. I will like some honest crude opinion of anybody there.

I'm half latino and don't have any problems actually. My mother is from honduras and has no problems either. Many people from different backgrounds live here. Blacks,Chinese,Hindus,muslims and Latinos among others live here. In big cities like Amsterdam,The Hague and Rotterdam half the people aren't even ethnicaly dutch anymore. So yes there is some racism like everywhere but don't exaggerate the problem. The group that gets the most hate are muslims.

I’m surprised many people here are saying they don’t see many Latinos? Every time I ride the tram or am walking around Amsterdam I always see and hear Latinos. Amsterdam is swamped with them! They are very loud, so that’s how you distinguish them 😝

It's the same for us here in South Europe, as we are more tann than northern Europeans we tend to have fewer blonde women or blue eyes even so here in Portugal we have a lot of blue eyes but not as much real natural blonde or even red hair, that's why me personally also have an attraction for Blondes from North European countries.

Spanish people are also latino's. And since the closest Spanish speaking country to the Netherlands is Spain there are more Spanish living here than Latin Americans (which has been increasing during to the economic problems that Spain is suffering from since the Eurocrisis started). BTW: the Netherlands used to be part of Spain and like the Latin American countries had to fight Spain to gain independence.

Yes they are, people who speak a language derivated from Latin, are Latinos. Usually Argentinians feel like Europeans because of their look, but in all honesty Spain has Latinos as well as other counties like Italy, France, Romania, and in America(the continent) we are Latin American people.

Sorry to respond so late lol. In the US we have terms like Hispanic and Latino. Terms like “Hispanic” means us as a mixed race have origins from Spain. We also have other mixed races who derive from Portugal. That is why the term Latino is used. All of our languages are derived from Latin.
