Laughter can be serious business. There’s evidence that people who laugh recover more quickly from illness. Neil and Sam share a silly joke as they talk about the topic and teach you related vocabulary.
This week's question
There’s a scientific field of study into laughter and its effects on the human body. What is this study called?
a) gigglology
b) gelotology
c) guffology
Listen to the programme to find out the answer.
Vocabulary
rib cage
structure in the human chest made of bones called ribs which protects your lungs and heart
primitive
relating to the simple, natural way humans lived in their early stages of development, before money, machines or writing were invented

guffaw
laugh out loud, often at something stupid or rude someone has said
mammals
animals, including humans, dogs and whales, which give birth to live young, rather than laying eggs, and who feed their young with milk
juvenile

In that case, I am an example whenever I am in the mood, I can do anything even hard tasks, and I feel I will smash it spontaneously. It’s very true the significance of a smile in every sector of our life path. As soon as possible, we should perceive it because mortality down is not a positive sign. This is because Sir, Charlie Chaplin said “A day Without laughter is a waste of a day”. Though I am having a bad patch, but I would like to come back through the strong laughter which had to me in the previous times.

Thanks BBC for a very intriguing video My summary after watching Laughter is a very essential part of our lives that makes us human. Well, there is a saying like "laughter is the best medicine" which is medically proven true as laughing releases anti-stress endorphins into our bodies. What's more, some evidence shows that people who often laugh recover quickly from their illnesses, including covid. According to Professor Sophie Scott, laughing is a variation of breathing. Like breathing, it involves a rib cage which is alike a drum to amplify the laughing sound. On top of that, humans are not only animals that laugh but also other beings such as different kinds of primates, and rats,... And a laugh is an invitation to play, a sign that animals enjoy their playing.

I tottaly agree with it. Laughter is the best medicine and it makes us happier. It makes us to feel positively. In my opinion we always should try to laugh. One scientist said that even smiling can boost our mood too. It says that laughter also affects us in positive way. Crying every time is not helpful and it's not a right decision. Jokes are too helpful for it. By jokes we can live longer than we imagine. So we should tell many jokes to be happier. Thanks BBC

@moonlight-mr4qc

First try to understand what you hear then write the words you didn't know then look them up in a dictionary or Google translate 🤔. Repeat the listing twice after that try to speak what you have heard then write it. Its important to know the new words and write them down in your notebook.
