One of the most distinguishing features of the British capital, London, is its many statuesque looking skyscrapers. Even more absorbing are the unique nicknames given to them.

I agree 💯% and I'm an American. London has the most diverse skyline in all the world IMO. I appreciate the fact that London isn't over run with supertall buildings and their innovative architectural approach stand out dramatically on it's landscape! Skyscrapers don't make a city and I think London knows this better than most. If London never built another skyscraper, it wouldn't matter much to many people that appreciate it for what it already is. The modern architecture that currently exists is so perfectly woven into the fabric of the city's ancient historical landscape that I can think no other city that can match it. London has a magnificent history, a great diverse culture and a populous filled with class! Don't overwhelm your beautiful city with skyscrapers.

Great item, but the Gherkin was not the second tallest building in London when it was finished in 2003. Citicorp and HSBC, along with 1 Canada square and Tower 42 are all taller. Therefore, it was the fourth tallest.

''22 miles of steel '' the correct unit of measurement for weight is metric tons/kg, not liters, stones, miles, celsius or whatever nonsense you have. you can thread 1 kg of steel so thin, it also becomes 22 miles. Means absolutely nothing.

@Aw Ree Portland, Oregon, USA, has far more parks, trees, and green areas than London, I am rather confident of. We have an over 6,000 acre nature park called Forest Park almost right in the middle of the city, dozens of other large and small nature parks, nature reserves, and wildlife reserves, and giant, old trees on virtually every single street in the entire city, from the center to the furthest suburbs. Having said that, London is a very beautiful city and I'm glad they have a lot of green spaces too.

Miami has way more skyscrapers than london. Miami has the largest population of skyscrapers on the east coast, outside of Manhattan. Miami has 500 skyscrapers over 70 stores, and about 12 of those are over 80 stories tall. google "Miami skyline 2019". Also, Miami will have the 2nd tallest skyscraper on the east coast in 2022. look up "Miami future tall skyscrapers".
