Ole has more to his credit than just a 'honeymoon' period. He took us to second in the league, had long winning runs, won by big margins and the team played really good football under him. Sure, he didn't have the pedigree but the club really had good moments under him. And he changed the toxity under Mourinho.
@MikaelLV
@MikaelLV Жыл бұрын
Agreed. The video doesn't even mention that Man Utd were second the season before. His project was sabotaged by the last minute signing of Ronaldo and his insistence on never benching certain players who played like crap. He lost control of the dressing room shortly after that. That's what was visible from outside. What actually happened behind the scenes to make Ole lose it that quickly we can only speculate on, but I'm absolutely sure the signing of Ronaldo was a disruptive event. Ronaldo scored a lot of goals, but the rest of the team was not playing nearly as well as just a few months before.
@mangofangoe315
@mangofangoe315 Жыл бұрын
@@MikaelLV Completely agree. The team was coming up nicely under Ole until Ronaldo came in. He got Sancho and Varane which were solid signings and gave a lot of young players a chance. People are talking as if Rashford was crap until now when in fact he did really well under Ole. True he did persist with Fred and McTominay but he didn't really have a Casemeiro or an Eriksen then. Maguire performed really well in the initial seasons.

I liked the "old" Ronaldo. But he should NEVER have come back. Under Ole, United were FAR better when they had Cavani, he always helped to pressure the opponents when we lost the ball, more of a team player. Ronaldo was just waiting to get the ball, and otherwise quite lazy and unhelpful in winning the ball back, just the wrong type of striker.

EtH brings accountability, strategy, tactical adaptability and a total lack of ego. He is a club-1st manager, and that will imprint on his squad, and so I think the days of selfish-play are past the club, under EtH. I feel like I've seen more beautiful 'team goals' under EtH than I did over the last 5 seasons. The squad looks happy and on the same wavelength, and truly like they're playing -for- each other instead of just -with- each other. Give him 3 years (including this one), allow him to sign players he wants, and we win the title again by 24/25. 👍

@corbeau-_-
@corbeau-_- Жыл бұрын
@@syauqatfikri4908 Van Gaal wasn't given enough time, but also had/has his image working against him, especially in the UK. At any rate, it took Ten Hag a while too, after a few managers had tried to take control. It's not like there was nothing for him to work with, he didn't start from scratch. But he's calm, respectful, patient and knows what he's doing and talking about. Like van Gaal, he's more like an idealistic teacher. And indeed Jose is more short-termed in his vision, I suppose. I think LvG and Jose should have been switched for a better result. And in the end, both did lay the fundation Ten Hag is working with. It takes time, effort and a lot of massaging the upper echelons of such a team. A lot of them just see money... and they want more, quickly. They aren't patient and lack the vision to see when a long term strategy is profitable. Going short is easier. You see this mechanism in a lot of companies/clubs. Repeating the glory days is never an instant trick. It took massive effort the first time around - but people are quick to forget.

To be honest, I'm not a super big fan of rich can-buy-all clubs like ManU, but I am SO proud of my fellow Dutchman Erik Ten Hag. Being wildly successful in the Netherlands, both with FC Utrecht and Ajax, his move to ManU was met with skepticism here: many foresaw a brilliant career in jeopardy. While it's too early what exactly will be his legacy at ManU, it's clear that the recent up is very much due to his work. No doubt he's going to be one of the great Dutch managers of his time.

He was unknown at the time, everyone was sceptical. It was a boring man, always talking football, very little emotion. But he did it, turning shit players into diamonds. For me, a man who joins in the punishment run with all of the players after the Brentford game, shows a top player like Ronaldo the door and installs the punishment of benching players for behaviour breaches is a man Manchester United have needed for many years. The difference between Ten Hag and LVG is that the board is behind him and he may have new owners. LVG did very well just didnt have the attackers or squad to play his style. Yes LVG recruitment wasnt the best but he brought alot of youth through and made them look very promising: Borthwick Jackson, Tuanzebe, Love, Varela, Wiley, Lingard, Rashford, Fosu Mensah, Andreas etc and Martial (signing) ofc. The difference between ten hag and previous coaches like ragnick and solskjaer is that thecprevious coaches were working as if they were substitute teachers, leaving the students to decide how it works. While ten hag is a new principal who completely takes over the club. He has shown that he is building something and that he is not just keeping united out of relegation. He has also shown his character by taking the risk of letting ronaldo out of the squad to be able to play his game. It takes a lot of balls to take out ronaldo and hope that your strategies will work better. And they sure did, ten hag focusses on tactics instead of big signings and names. That’s why he will succeed.

Or it may backfire. He knows very well that Ronaldo was bought to save the club and after doing the most for the club last season when the team was in Shambles, Ronaldo was thrown under the bus, and handling this mismanagement is non other than the current coach. Yes he may have won this time round as I didn’t think Ronaldo should have been brought in at all, but you can see the coach has a lack of respect for United and it’s legends. This is not just all about United but how you handle someone that the club bought by mistake, just shameful to say the least.
@Mopark25
@Mopark25 Жыл бұрын
@@ecofriendly4912 "thrown under the bus" yeah like when he kept starting him even after he refused to come on as a substitute and even made him captain. Or when he was missing preseason while offering himself to every CL club that wouldn't take him. The fuck are you talking about? He give the baby TOO much respect. He managed it perfectly, gave him enough rope to hang himself with his shit performances and we're all better for it now that he's fucked off. And he did all that BECAUSE he respects United too much to let past it legends run the club.

@@Mopark25 perhaps you didn’t watch the interview but his pre season was disrupted by a serious illness to his daughter whom was hospitalised. I just wish you don’t have family members as you probably won’t care if they are sick or not. As for offering himself to ever CL club, contrary to what Ten Hag claimed that they didn’t talk about wanting Ronaldo to leave, it’s obvious United was trying to sell Ronaldo but no one would pay his crazy salary would they, especially for a player whom has declined so much. So your point that this is something to blame on Ronaldo, when he’s no longer in the current coach’s plan is ridiculous to say the least. You are just pure naive to think that all these antics to get Ronaldo off the club is something that Ronaldo engineered. Ten Hag is a smart manager, and he has every right to want to rid the club off Ronaldo, I would too, but to create the tension so that it’s untenable, nah you just don’t ask a legend to come out last 3 minutes then giving the public an excuse that it’s for Ronaldo’s own good, lol even a kid would know public humiliation like that 😂

You are missing the biggest point. Change of management and leader at the top. Previous management focus on hype, overrated & very commercially profitable player. When a manager try to impose discipline the club sided with the player not the manager. Try to find some of the quotes from previous manager & you will understand what i’m saying How can a manager work when the club dont give the manager the support that they need Looks like MU now has learn their lesson. Signing player that they need & supporting their man This is the biggest change that can be seen on the pitch

What do you mean Jose 'only managed to get an EFL cup and Europa league in 2.5 yrs' that's a European cup that the English teams very rarely win, that's where they're at right now, forget the CL they're worlds away from that. The only team that gets to say Europa is 'beneath them' is real Madrid with how many times they've won the damn thing

Marcus Rashford was on fire and Ten Hag still started him on the bench for disciplinary reasons. Then he came in and scored. That for me is an example of Ten Hag doing something right. For too long we have had players like Pogba calling the shots and that was a recipe for disaster.
