I like how Jacobs calls her Maya Hawk at first, like one of my distance Cheyenne relatives or something lol. Probably a slip up because Ethan Hawke plays her father on Reservation Dogs, and his real-life daughter is Maya Hawke.

In another article, Sydney Freeland, a director on the series, said that the character, while \hypothetically Cheyenne, was depicted with a glut of various indigenous iconography spanning from Inuit to Six Nation. and in-between. Since they were seeing it as a reset from "generic Native American" they felt a little more freedom as far as they background.Steven Judd, is part Choctaw (as well as part Kiowa) and so they went with that since they felt they could write it more authentically. The room had Navajo and Dakota in there as well, though, so it's not like it was because there was one indigenous writer in there and that's why they picked it.
