In this interview with Laurence H Johns, he gives his opinion on where men find themselves in modern society. Charting major historical events that have impacted the lives of men and masculinity today. He explores the 'popular' 'negative' attention men and masculinity are receiving from the media and some groups including other men and goes on to explain that "men are the medicine not the poison". We get to hear about Laurence's own journey into men's work and how this has shaped his unorthodox, bespoke and unique approach when working with men, in what he would describe as, 'Doing The Work' a metaphor for 'Men's Personal Development'. Laurence has made it his mission, and dedicated over two decades of this life, in the pursuit of simplifying and demystifying men’s work. He believes men having access to better tools and resources, coming together in community, not only improves the lives of men, it is a shortcut to a better world for all.

Laurence is a seasoned men’s work professional with over two decades of experience. Dedicated to simplifying and demystifying men’s personal development. His remarkable journey, forged amidst an unusual background, led him to a profound understanding of what men need to thrive.
Growing up in the vibrant yet challenging streets of pre-gentrified East London, Laurence learned early the dynamics of survival and power. With a father involved in a world of crime and a model of masculinity rooted in power and position, Laurence entered adulthood carrying the weight of exhausting expectations.
His 20s brought worldly success - directing a prestigious London book dealership, global travels, and creative endeavours like writing and directing a feature film. But beneath the surface, cracks were forming. The allure of excess and indulgence masked deeper demons. It wasn't until the 2008 financial crash, facing bankruptcy, bailiffs, and the responsibility of a newborn son, that Laurence confronted the stark truth.
In his darkest hour, Laurence found salvation in his brothers from the ManKind Project. Their unwavering support pulled him from the abyss. With this newfound strength, he dedicated himself to men's personal development.
Currently serving as the Development & Outreach Director of the ManKind Project UK&I, Laurence also co-founded Masculinity X, an impact-first community that empowers men to lead lives of connection, challenge, contribution, and celebration. Using easy-to-understand personal development tools and opportunities to serve, Laurence is on a mission to make the very best of men's personal development accessible to all men, regardless of their background.
"After 21 years of my own journey and guiding men on theirs, I've uncovered the patterns that work, the themes that lead to success, and the journey that every man can embark on. This journey, taken at your own pace, in the right order, can save you decades of time and expenses. I’m on a mission to rewrite the story of men’s personal development."
