It is becoming common on Kampala streets to see hybrid vehicles, identifiable by the clearly labeled markings on the cars. These vehicles use conventional fuel and electricity, usually battery-powered. Mechanical experts and car dealers agree that the substantial benefits of hybrids include higher fuel economy, especially amidst the ever-increasing fuel prices. They say hybrid is the way to go, given the lower investments needed to keep the vehicles on the road compared to fully Electric Vehicles (EVs), which would require the purchase of charging systems to be installed across the country.

Let our local mechanics(technicians) be proactive and get good training in handling the advanced engineering that come with Hybrid cars. Otherwise many people are shunning them because these mechanics have either discouraged them or they have damaged their vehicles. In some extreme cases, some incompetent technicians have led these vehicles to catch fire! However, judos to Francis Mugenyi and JSK motor Hub for their expertise in sophisticated vehicles like Nissan.

@@farahmo4519 These electric cars are toxic and unsafe, they might explode at any moment. The fires are difficult to put out. and may burn for a long time.

@@sdub300 the number of cars that have caught fire is negligible. Even petrol cars catch fire. But we can't continue with petrol cars for the sake of the environment, technology has to improve

Oh I have a friend who's owned a nissan leaf 100% driven on Ugandan road for the last 5years. I have personal experience with a Mazda hybrid, haven't had any issues with it for two years now and it's very affordable
