@Armstrong La Borde Technically? You mean you can't tell the cardinal coordinates? Western Hemisphere cannot be changed to accommodate your bias opinion about what is and what isn't its a fact . And yes Latin American countries are also westerners they have a Latin language that started in ancient Rome which I turn out to be European and many Latin American countries share many western-european things such as language, food and customs more so than any other countries that you could mentioned.
@armstronglaborde
@armstronglaborde Жыл бұрын
@@caesarroe1283 I can't understand your argument since I agree with you that the western hemisphere incorporate the American continent; that is why I said you are technically correct. However, when we talk about the western influence, we are talking about the influence that the European countries have on the western hemisphere. So in sports namely football and other disciplines, for differential purposes among the regions and groups of people, they incorrectly use the term Western to mean the European countries of the western hemisphere.

@Armstrong La Borde football have been invented since the mayans were around almost a millenia ago the British as you know know made the rules even the Japanese can make a claim to invented football aka soccer Kemari is how Japanese called this sport and it was introduced between 700 to 1200 AC mathematics were invented in the middle east ,but China and Mexico both have valid claims about this when it comes to structures and engineering the pioneer were Indian and Egyptians even Akkadiams so tell me what is it the you don't get? You made it sound like the world was invented yesterday even the first rifles use TnT which was invented in Asia and if you are talking about moderns stuff other countries such as Latin American countries can make a claim but you need to read more.

It’s not only that, actually one of the main reasons why that is, it’s because the system in Brazil works by first name. Things such as role call, and referring to teachers as well. So that’s why many don’t use their last name, unlike many American and Europeans names. Different standards, and it’s different not because of friendliness, just simplicity.

Sooooo, they're actually used to nicknames mostly. Ronaldo was either Ronaldo Nazário or Ronaldo Fenômeno. Ronaldinho has always been Ronaldinho Gaúcho, Vinícius and Neymar are both Junior on the jersey but it's one of those names you don't really say. Ofc there are exceptions to these, but keep in mind that most names ending in "into" are nicknames, it would be the same as an English player named Peter having Petey in his jersey. That is Portuguese heritage and you see it in some players as well such as Vitinha or Ricardinho in futsal. Then those who are known for one name only despite people knowing their full name (for the most part) such as Figo, Éder, Quaresma and Pauleta for example.

Actually it’s a Western thing to refer to people in their last name. In most of the world the last name is usually reserved for more formal and official engagements. Even then, both the first and last names, are used to refer to someone

Well said and it all makes sense. The only thing I’ll add is that last names can also be considered a nickname in Brazil. An example is Gabriel Martinelli. Some last names are treated like nicknames, so the feeling of friendlessness is also there.

no, there are a lot of people with the same name and in that case we usually call them by their last name, like jesus for gabriel jesus and martinelli for gabriel martinelli, or we use a nickname Christian names are super common here, such as gabriel, Pedro, Lucas, João, these are Bible names and are considered standart names neymar and richarlisson are the weirder names that you don't see a lot of

Vinnicius is quite common, Neymar is a completely new name that his father put on him. But when two playera have the same name in a team, one of them will gain a nickname. Ronaldinho got his nickname when he started playing for Brazil national team and Ronaldo Nazario was there.

In fact the 'firs name' is the common name to call a Brazilian in most of 'average social context' (including work), close friends and family will use some nickname of contraction of the first name. The only context where is more common to be refereed for the second name is on the military.
