You know those maps where Greenland is bigger than South America and Russia looks absolutely gigantic? They're wrong. Very wrong.

Get yourself a Gleason Flat Map and you will never go wrong when navigating around the world. No more misleading distances and Trayectories. If the Military uses it , it must be for some reason. The Earth is NOT a Globe.

@Atlas Whatever a troll wants to say !! First try circumnavigating the world and then tell us about your experiences. Rumours are dirty words. Gleason Map is not perfect, because nothing is perfect but I see it as a very good guidance map even if it's wrong in some distances and aspects which it is expected.

not really we have the EU most europeans actually reject globalization its only the elite that care about destroying western civilization even the Dalai Lama the most respected buddhist leader agrees. We know that our content is small but we are still very powerful. Le Pen will kick out macron and more populist government are rising against the liberal world order of so called multiculturalism and diversity. Europe for Europeans. The EU should be more isolationist and get Russia to join so that the combined nuclear arsenals of Russia,France, Britain will prevent any threats from Asia and maybe Africa if they develop the capability to do so. Fun fact South Africa had a nuclear arsenal but it was destroyed during the fall of Apartheid due to fear of Misuse of the black government.

Is a saw "wrong" because you can't brush your teeth with it? Is a car "wrong" because the fastest way to travel long distances is by aeroplane? The maker of this video lives in an age in which ignorant people delight in finding fault and think that the ability to find fault proves their smartness. These are the same sort of people who think that sarcasm is a sign of intelligence. The fact of the matter is that the Mercator projection is not wrong. It is in fact a very accurate projection for what it is meant to do. This projection was designed for an age when people in Europe were beginning to explore the world and they needed a way to plot routes. By laying the surface of the Earth on a flat grid, the Mercator projection solved an important problem of navigation. The Mercator projection was never meant to accurately plot areas. To declare it is "wrong" because it doesn't resolve area in the correct proportions is like declaring that cars are "wrong" because they don't fly in the air and thus aren't the fastest means of transportation and saws are "wrong" because you can't brush your teeth with them.

Of course it's WRONG! If it were 'RIGHT' then it would represent the actual World ACCURATELY! As to your analogous representations, they're just dumb! Your ideas are representative of backwards thinking, e.g. we had horses, but we built cars to go faster because it suited our needs, not because horses were wrong, when we needed to travel farther faster, we developed aircraft to do that, not because cars were wrong. A similar thing happened with toothbrushes. It's called 'DEVELOPMENT', it's the technical equivalent of 'EVOLOUTION'! You even highlight this in your flawed diatribe, "... So now, we need to start looking at the world as it really is. NOT as a distortion of our world, which belittles those who were once regarded as lesser or inferior. I think the 'Mercator Map' persists because it makes the U.S. & the U.S.S.R. oops! soz, I meant to say Russia (in my defence, Putin just makes it all feel verrrry, very Soviet), anyway it boosts their ego. Even the U.K. looks huge. I mean, how else did we get up the nerve to have conquered half the globe? Oh yeah, our technology was the best! But, given time, WE moved on, developed, and eventually came up with the W.W.W. so that we can all look at a realistic representation of the world (a Globe), anywhere at any time.

It's *NOT wrong!* It is what a projection does. We know when we read any projection maps (48 different projections) that size and shape are distorted.
