Why My Wireless Mouse Is Not Working ? | 5 Possible Ways To Fix It

This video shows you 5 possible reasons why a wireless mouse is not working and how to fix it. There are many reasons that keep your wireless mouse stop working. In this video, I show you common problems with USB wireless mouse.
No.1: Mouse is not working because you haven't changed your battery for months.
Remember that, most of wireless mouses use AA 1.5V battery for it's power on. If you've let your computer and mouse set on, then the battery can only run around 5-6 months. If you turn off your mouse everytime you're not using then the battery life might get longer. So, all you have to do is buy new batteries and replace it. Follow steps of replacing battery in this video.
(Consider buying dry battery for using longer)
No.2: Loose battery in the tray
This is quite common as well. We understand that the mouse made materials can have its own changing. Sometimes, you might drop your mouse, then after that, the loosen battery just happening around. A loosen battery might get your wireless mouse not working well. It works then stop at the middle. Follow the easy steps to fix this state of mouse is not working.
No. 3: Bad Pairing.
Due to some reasons, bad pairing can happen and get your mouse stuck on laptop screen. Bad pairing might be from overworking or overloading tasks on your PC. Easy quick fix for bad pairing is disconnect your USB receiver for a while and re-plug in later on.
No.4: On/Off Switch or Power button on the mouse just drop or loosen in
Many people might have problems with their mouse on/off switch button. Don't worry, this can be fixed as well. You can open the mouse (just look under the battery, there is a single screw). Open the mouse from this screw, and disassembly it carefully. You can see the on/off switch is just around the corner. Now, you can, reattach the button and close the mouse correctly.
No. 5 : Buy a new mouse
I've suggested a way to search for a new wireless mouse with USB Unifying Receiver. For a wireless mouse that allows Unifiying receiver, then you don't worry when your current usb receiver get lost (because, you can always buy a new usb receiver).

4 th option is not possible, since the button can't be put in wrong way, it was made that way. When you disassemble it you can see, there is only one way to put it in place, if you turn it upside down it won't go in. But it may differ for different models of mouse. I'm talking about Logitech M185 wireless mouse.

Before doing any thing, just clean the 4 small round pads of the mouse itself, accumulated dirt causes the lift of the optic sensor away from the table surface which is the MOST common cause of an optic mouse's erratic function.

@@AnhPhan Thanks for appreciation, though I'm with computers since 1983, it took me months to realize this "culprit" , I did everything you and others suggested to no avail. Scraped the four tiny pads with my finger nails and WOW my 3 yrs old "LogiTech M201" mouse emerged as new.

Say you get mad or it falls or drops on a hard surface, what will happen is the cursor won’t move but the buttons will work. To fix it open the pad to the bottom of it where the battery is, take the battery out and there should be a black screw or some screw of whatever color. Get a screw driver that’s small enough and take it apart(nothing will fall out) there should be a peice that’s loose above the white clear thing. Slide it in to the white rectangle piece that’s there and it should snap in place. Then put it back together and it’s fixed

Thank you so much! I replaced the battery but it still wasn't working. I then removed the USB receiver & turned off the mouse. Waited.. waited.. and then plugged the receiver back in and turned on the mouse. Viola! It worked!

Thank you soooooooo very much. My Logitech mouse wasn’t working. I thought I was going to buy a new mouse, but after doing number 3, taking the USB port out for awhile with the mouse off. Changing the battery didn't help, so I tried Fix 3 (bad pairing) -- turned off the mouse and switched the wireless "thingy" to another USB port on my laptop and voila, it works. Who knew? Hey, I'm just a regular person in my 60s, so I learn as I go. Thanks Anh Phan!

my mouse stopped working out of nowhere like i thought the battery but when i put in the new battery it doesnt work

Mam how to troubleshoot ? In laptop mouse press right-click and refresh then use your external mouse buttons it will be able to function properly without lagging if still u face problems then u have to clean some temp files and have to make some changes in regedit
