While uninstalling social media is fantastic, and something I have sustained for the last few years, I have come to realize that it is a bit superficial. My mind has just come up with other better distractions now. The app isn't making you waste time, there is something inside you that finds the app a convenient thing to do, probably something that is uncomfortable with the current moment and wants to "escape" in some way. So, my new year resolution is to examine my own drives and motivations as closely as possible, by asking myself *"Why am I doing this?"* and *"Is it actually having the effect I intended?"* and listening deeply for the answers, as often as possible.
@ConstantinChirila4 жыл бұрын
I went down that root as well, and noticed the same thing, but i noticed i did replace it with more watching videos on youtube, and when i noticed that i progressively curated the content i watch, aiming mostly towards learning something. Opposite to facebook or twitter where I'm bombarded by superficial people and falling into that "envy trap" where you want to do what your friend did after you saw pictures if his new car, new house, adventure etc. Also i found less toxicity on youtube (if you curate your stuff). That being said, being distracted is not a bad thing that should be 100% avoided, your mind needs the distraction and the entertainment, needs to wonder. Best thing to do is when you see you mind keeps pulling you away from being productive maybe you should give it that time of distraction. I am a developer and i often notice that when I'm stuck and go do something fun even for 10-15 minutes, I tend to solve issues almost instantly. Everything in moderation can be a very good thing :)
@liadeindadani69134 жыл бұрын
This also happened to me. But instead of litterly days of doing nothing but KZfaq and Instagram, I started to distract myself with much more useful things that made me feel better. Like writing, drawing, reading. And all that kind of stuff. @WolfyPlays4 жыл бұрын
Its not really that superficial, the apps are designed visually and psychologically to make you spend more time on it. So when you ask "why did i waste so much time arguing to this random stranger on Twitter" its bcoz the app was designed to show u opinions on stuff that u have liked or yourself posted. So deleting the apps definitely helps.

Coming back to this video 7 months later and in that time I’ve lost 40 pounds, committed to working out regularly, got a new job that’s way better than my old one and really started taking my life seriously for the first time. Idk what it was that clicked in my brain this year, I really can’t say for sure how much this video had to do with it but I will say that the strategy I used was pretty much exactly what you laid out here. Small incremental changes week after week that slowly add up over time. It’s crazy how much better my life is now compared to how it was when this video came out. I have my own place, an investment portfolio and I’m finally on track to actually get sober by slowly eliminating all the drugs and unhealthy food I’ve been addicted to for decades. I’m like a completely different person. This time last year I was 185 lbs, ate fast food multiple times a week and took as much as 15 grams of phenibut a day along with the suboxone I used to get off heroin. As I type this I’m completely off suboxone and down to 2 grams a day of phenibut. I don’t eat fast food at all and just prior to watching this I ran an 11 minute mile. And if that doesn’t sound impressive just know that I haven’t tried to run in literally years and keeping a steady pace of 5.5mph for an entire mile is a huge accomplishment for me especially as it followed a workout that included 100 pull ups, 200 push ups and 300 squats. Anyway sorry I’m totally rambling here it’s just that this video reminded me of how far I’ve come since you uploaded it and I’m really stoked on all my progress. One day at a time, taking small steps in the right direction is the way to go. Two years ago I was addicted to heroin and had nothing going for me so if I can do it anyone can.

The cut at 1:03 actually bothered me ;) He is moving the camera across the imaginary line between the subject and the main object in the scene (the computer screen), which makes it swap from being on the left of him to being on the right of him. This is discouraged in video/movie cutting literature, because it "reverses" the scene, confuses the viewer and makes the cut super obvious. He's also cutting while nothing else is moving in the scene. It's better to cut just an instance after starting some movement.

Here's 3 that would hopefully help you achieve them. 1. "No thy self" Just be you, stop worrying what others project on to you. Know who you are, where you've been, what you've learned, what "triggers" you, what you love, who loves you, who you will strive to become, the type of person you are to everyone around you .. and just be content with who you've become and what you've achieved so far. 2. "...and i, I chose the one less traveled by" Get out of your comfort zone, go to a library.. Saay, EVERY Saturday for an hour+, read, study, learn and without anxiety ("and only 3 secs of confidence") look one person in the eye and say "hi". Your self confidence will grow.. And you never know who you might meet or what you might learn from them. 3."the body always follow the mind" Eat right, sleep right and exercise for only 20 mins 2x per wk (all helps with depression and your mind and body will thank you) Mindfulness meditation can help too to quiet the mind and negative thoughts, centers you in the moment and can help you realize it when you're not (when anxiety or depression has crept in). Research it all at the library👆 As for the job... Don't sweat it, Work on the first 3 and when you're ready, apply to all that sounds right to you, only a few out of a dozen may respond with an interview.. Come prepared and if the first company doesn't offer a job..who cares..take the learning into the next interview and if it is meant to be it will happen.. And a lot of times it's just who you know.😉 Stay positive, one foot in front of the other and Keep smiling bud. Last cheesy yet insightful quote✌ "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." Sincerely Mark

Also I'm in Kota, a city where they give you additional tutorials for this exam. Great video as usual! I have one comment on the third part: backup distractions also need to be taken into account! If you feel safe because you have improved your environment so as to get rid your typical distractions - e.g. you can no longer browse socials or read the news - chances are you will lower your guard and those distractions will come back in another form, or new distractions will sneak up on you. A rather silly example: you feel you're saving time by staying away from socials and newspapers, hence you think you can treat yourself to a couple minesweeper games, and before you know it, you end up wasting as much time as you used to. The solution to this in my opinion: improving your environment by ALSO allowing yourself some small, carefully planned treats - such as 1-2 minesweeper games MAX as a reward for the hard work - such that your mind doesn't really miss the distractions.
