@@rainnoises2985 It’s not oxygen deprivation. It’s difficulty adjusting to the change in oxygen levels. There are many cities in the world that are that high, and the residents there live their lives perfectly. Not feeling “deprived” of oxygen at all. When you come from a much lower altitude, it will take some time to adjust. Around 2 weeks. So there’s nothing inhumane about it.

I'm from bolivia and Maradona has said before that the altitude isn't really a big problem if the teams get there with more time to get used to the altitude before the match. In our teams we have many players that aren't from here and they get used to the altitude and perform like in any other pitch. The mistake is that teams get a day or two prior to the match.
@ilovenovels
@ilovenovels Жыл бұрын
In modern football timetables are heavily restricted. Players need to have a few months of vacations and play like 1000 matches per year if you include national and club teams. You simply dont have the time to spend a month to get used to the altitude. Even a week is too little to get used to it.
@ilovenovels
@ilovenovels Жыл бұрын
@GrindZ it was an exaggeration.
@ilovenovels
@ilovenovels Жыл бұрын
@GrindZ reaching 70 games in a year is already insane. Taking into account 2 months vacation per year you'd have 7 matches a month or almost 2 matches per week. At that pace you really can't afford to spend a month getting used to altitude.
@ilovenovels
@ilovenovels Жыл бұрын
@GrindZ one a week still too little to prepare, unless you can take 1 month off to train in high altitude you wont level the difference, look up how much time do professional athletes need to get used to la paz altitudes and you'll see that 1 week (in reality less than that bc of travel times, etc) is not even close to enough

The "creator of the stadium" had no say in the health problems because the whole city is at 3000m above sea level. So you have no choice if you want to have a stadium in that city. The mistake comes from the people that choose the stadium where the national games are held.

Being a Local in South America (either in clubs and national teams) is a lot more meaningfull. Not only for geographic reasons, but for the fans too. For example, Bolivia and Ecuador have the attitude of La Paz and Quito respectively, Colombia has the extremely hot climate of Barranquilla, Perú has the arid and dry climate of Lima, etc. I think the only teams with "perfect" climate are central Argentina and Uruguay, the rest have at least one advantage.

I live in a very high place in Colombia and i have played also in places like the US and the difference is very noticeable however the height isn’t the worst thing on the world if the players arrive like a day before there bodies would be able to adapt a bit to the height fixing most issues they have
@rogeriopenna9014

The biggest problem is the massive headaches the lack of oxygen brings. You either must arrive at the place like 1-2 hours before the match or you must stay there for over 1 week to get used. So, the problem is much less La Paz, which has an airport... and much more some even HIGHER stadiums where clubs play the Libertadores. There is a stadium in Bolivia, 4300 meters above sea level. And a small city where you must travel by bus. So you can´t arrive just before the match.

I’m from Denver in the US and our city is infamous for this. Cause the highest stadiums in every US/Canada professional sport(including both types of football) are all in Denver m. So every team has a special game plan for dealing with Denver’s elevation. Although we are a bit lower than Mexico City is. But yeah, if our National team has to play in Azteca than everyone else can survive Bolivia.

The only people who push for the banning of la paz stadiums are only the Brazilians who have the ego inflated and can't stand loosing to a "bad" team as bolivia. It's really not that serious the harm everyone is talking about and the only thing that happens is that players get more easily tired, that's literally it, it makes bolivia win more sure but it's not an unfair advantage as people makes you believe, specially when you consider that they don't even win that much and other south american nations have high altitudes as well.

There's something similar with Mexico at the Estadio Azteca because of it's altitude as a USMNT player once said that when you warm up for 5 minutes it feels like you've played a full 90 minutes. But it's a huge home advantage to Mexico as they super rarely ever lose at home in the qualifers as they only lost at home twice. Costa Rica in 2001 and Honduras in 2013

It's quite literally a skill issue. I mean the Argentine national team beat Bolivia at La Paz during the WC qualifiers so I don't see any reason why others cannot do the same. However since this is coming from Neymar, I believe he feels uncomfortable rolling on the floor at such a high altitude.
