You forgot one more reason why Yubel is used in Duel Links: people don't read so they'll just attack Yubel

In the anime, all three forms of Yubel had "Your opponent takes all Battle Damage from battles involving this Attack Position card", they nerfed them super hard for the OCG/TCG

Fun Fact: Yubel's Anime self destruction effect did trigger the evolution forms of Yubel.

If they ever do a Yubel retrain or legacy support, it would be cool if they made an "ignoring the summoning conditions" card or something Extra-Deck related to make them untargetable by card effects.

This is one of the most requested legacy support I've seen on the Yugioh community, possibly because Yubel was such a good antagonist and with a half way decent deck, which is more that I can say about Arcana Force.

Another fun thing to note: by the time Fire Kings came out in the TCG, Yubel (and more specifically Terror Incarnate) had been powercrept not only by High Avatar Garunix, but also by an Earthbound Immortal card of all things.

I think Yubel has one of the coolest designs in the whole game. In their first form they have the whole dual gender half-male half-female thing going on. I love how even the legs and arms are gendered, with one half being smooth and the other having bulging muscles. The second form is a bad ass dragon, and I like how the eye motif carries over. Then the third form is this eldritch abomination. The human face in the center is so grotesque too. I would love for Yubel to get more support. Even if it ends up being underwhelming, I just want more of the art!

Yubel should've forced your opponent to go into the battle phase each turn, or else all their monsters would get destroyed. Also make it that Yubel is the only monster they could target for attacks.

The worst part about Terror Incarnate is those weird golden horns coming out it's back, which appear to be in the most inconvenient place for Yubel, because with those there it doesn't seem like they'd be able to flap their wings properly since the horns are in the way and thus would struggle to fly.

These cards really just exist for the story of the gx anime. In japanese, the names are detestible knight and extremely sorrowful dragon. With their effects to be undestroyable by battle and reflecting damage, it connects to their original purpose of protecting a certain individual forever. Having any other effect would have just not worked well with the lore presented.

I actually used to play a dedicated Yubel deck back in like 2012. Would use Mystic Tomato to SS Yubel, Dark Hole then Call of the Haunted to help loop Yubel's abilities and phases. Did it win games? Not really but it was fun and cool as hell.

The worst thing about big monsters whose payoffs are their floating effects in the modern era is that knightmare unicorn exists

I think another glaring problem is that the monsters have 0 Attack and rely on your opponent having monsters for you to damage them. So if you manage to clear your opponent's board, great--but then you need another way to actually close out the game, which is a big ask considering how much of your deck you need to devote to getting the Yubel line out.

I know not everyone likes to talk about duel links, but I love the videos where you talk about why some cards were better/worse in duel links than the TCG. Maybe you could do some on other cards/decks like why noble knights or gagaga's have been so good

They've left the window open for Yubel support with the sacred beast structure deck, with cards with effects for level 10 monsters and fiends with 0 atk and def. I could see them making yubel support that ties into that, as she played them in the anime.

Hello and thank you for your video. It's been a great delight seeing that people have not forgotten about the iconic Yubel archetype. Inspired by your video and stricken by nostalgia I wanted to share with you my personal story with these cards. Back in 2008, the golden years of rock music and skateboard culture, a lot of us middle-school kids were really into Yu-gi-oh! I have some great memories playing that game with my childhood friends. That's when I won all 3 Yubels in a duel. This card really meant and still means a lot to me and I built a unique deck which treated this card as it's boss monster which I have kept on low radar for all these years but I have decided to reveal it now because time is limited... This deck was Yubel/Exodia which has been an idea since the early days of Yubel but never looked at thoroughly. The potential of this deck during it's initial release was not meta-defining but was for a fact a great rogue deck. Due to the lack of removals back in the day, and the ease of keeping constantly Yubel on the field this control strategy made it possible for a good and fun, yet original playing experience . Don't get me wrong, this deck has zero chance nowadays,due to the powercreeping in Yugioh cards, but over the years, with the banlist and new cards that fit to it, it still is usable in a friendly environment with custom rules, or Edison format. I would like to present to you a few key cards that the Yubel engine is able to utilize to keep it's control nature. -Limit Reverse: I am starting with this card because it is the most most most important and beneficial card to Yubel. This card was released during the synchro era and was one of the early extender cards to go for synchro plays. But Yubel greatly accepted that card as it's own. It's a double benefit for it you know. Not only do you get to replace Yubel on the field, which is the key factor of the deck, but it's second effect which destroys the monster if changed to defence position, gives Yubel the opportunity to bring it's second form Yubel-Terror Incarnate to the field. Keep in mind that the second form is the true boss monster of Yubels due to it's controlling capability -Mystic Tomato: A self-explanatory card itself gets the second place on the list because back in the day where removals were limited, the opponent actually had to consider getting a -1 card to disrupt your tomato in contrast to today's cards which remove and get infinitely ++ by themselves. The tomato allows you to summon the Yubel instantly from your deck, setting you up by bypassing the, then, difficult summoning mechanics of Yubel which requires 2 tributes. -Mound of the Bound Creator: The field spell originally created to support the God cards and big bosses is another beneficial card to Yubel due to it's respectful stars 10, 11 and 12. MotBC helps with Yubel's disadvantage which is target/destruction by effects. This makes Yubel completely untouchable (again by the older cards) and actually helps with the first Yubel's downfall which is tributing a monster on your side of the field. -Cards like Sangan, Witch of the Black Forest, Emissary of the Afterlife: These cards saw limitations back in the day, because of the banlist but over the years they have all been unbanned and added great potential to the deck. Back in the day I would use Emissary x3 but now you do not need him anymore since Sangan and Witch are legal again. These cards not only turn the downfall of 1st Yubel form into an asset, by setting them and tributing at the EP for an Exodia piece but they also benefir greatly from Yubel 2nd form(the true boss of the deck) and cards like Dark Hole that both them and the Yubels like. -Stygian Street Patrol: I would also want to give STP an honorarymention because he is probably the only card I have thought of that helps bypass the awful situation where you have Yubel in your hand. If he is in the GY he makes it possible for you to SS a Yubel from your hand with the cost of himself being removed. This deck has helped me win a few locals back in the day and even during the XYZ era where disruptions became more popular, and I even won one last year in a format where Pendulums and Links were banned proving that it is still an OK deck to play. I would like to say that I have played THOUSANDS and thousands of duels with this deck and it is a beautiful and artistic deck to play. As I said, I planned to never release this deck in public but because time is limited I wanted to show you guys that this card is actually a very beautiful card and it is something more than just an anime, gimmicky memento. When Union Carrier was still at Limited, I actually used to play Yubel in my Blackwing/Raidraptor/Phantom Knight Deck. Summon PK Rusty Bardiche, summon Union Carrier, use Union Carrier to equip Yubel - Terror Incarnate to a Dark-type monster, XYZ summon into a Dark-type monster to trigger Rusty Bardiche's effect and pop Terror Incarnate, summon out Ultimate Nightmare with incredible consistency. Granted, it didn't win me a lot of games but it did cause a lot of opponents to burst out laughing because they weren't expecting it.

Konami made B.E.S playable. Surely Yubel will get some attention later on.

A big issue with Yubel is the fact that in the anime, they _can_ attack into the enemy monsters to reflect damage.

i feel like ultimate nightmare should've kept it's dark hole effect, but combine it with it's actual effect so it dark holes the field, and either deals damage to your opponent equal to all the atk of their monsters, or half the atk of all monsters destroyed with the effect for a card that takes so much effort to get out, having it essentially be a win con instead of just being a strong monster would fit a lot more

The last Yubel should have floated to the first form. And the first form should float to the second off of it's own effect. We need retrains!

1 of my favorite combos was combining terror incarnate with sacred phoenix nephtys. Terror kills nephtys and all other monsters then next turn nephtys comes back in the stand by phase destroying all back row. Essentially blackrose every turn.

Yubel with the fire king cards was a strong combo. Especially if you got a garunix loop going. Just having the field spell to immediately go into a terror incarnate was also pretty good for the time.

I really like Yubel, and did try to make it work casually back in the day. But I would rather have a rework for Yubel in modern time instead of having "legacy support" for pretty bad cards.

Tbh i'd love some Yubel support cards, it should really be an archetype, I don't even need it to be a meta archetype just something fun you could play and maybe have mild success with lol

Out of all the Yu-Gi-Oh GX villains (or Yu-Gi-Oh as a whole actually), Yubel is my favorite. Not only was she an actual threat, being a supernatural being and all; she was an interesting character as well. But most importantly, she was a genuinely powerful Duelist. Like, really strong. Unless I am mistaken, she never lost a Duel or at least only lost once and she Dueled at least 7 times. Most heroes cannot even say that, let alone the villains! Perhaps not virtually undefearable, but at least very powerful, in chara ter AND Dueling, is something you'd want to see in your villain, espsceially if they are the big bad of that season.

Thanks for the video! I'd like to add that True Kings could use Yubel as a plus card, as the card that Diagram popped replaced itself. So even if the Diagram was Ash'd, you still had at least one body on board to pass on. You ran 1 Yubel and 1 Terror. Nightmare is optional, depending on how many other bricks the deck is running. If Terror and Nightmare are the deck's only 2 bricks, you were unlikely to draw them very often, so you could then pop Terror with a True King, and have that extra bit of push. But sometimes, my mixed builds would run other bricks instead, since they have a higher turnover rate. Even if you didn't have Diagram at the time, all the True Kings and even Ultimate Conductor Tyranno were able to pop Yubel from the hand, in a much more effective way than any of the Fire King cards ever could. Then later when Double Evolution Pill came out, you could banish your Yubel cards as the non-dinos. Like you said, Terror Incarnate was an alright Dark Hole when it needed to be, clearing your opponent's board or triggering your searches in the End Phase. But other times, it was a Spirit Reaper, ending your opponent's Battle Phase so you can build your resources back up, or forcing your opponent's removal cards before you build your board. There's times when it functions like Cyber Dragon, a free summon to use as an extra body for whatever you happen to need an extra body for at that moment. Sometimes it could even be a Magic Cylinder, since a lot of people didn't want to read all that text. Or it could just be a bricky topdeck that loses you a game, like Dark Magician of Chaos used to be. It took on the functions of a whole lot of Limited GX cards all at once! This was probably when Yubel was at its peak, just as a 2-3 card engine. Eventually, Lithosagym was banned and Diagram was limited. So it lost viability. Even I don't dare to run Yubel now, so that's saying something.

I love yubel especially the second form. Playing it in tgc in my rank 10 xyz deck. It doesn't contains pendulum or link (I really don't like link), but I'm still able to beat some decks with it

Yubel was one of my favorite fun decks to play. It didn’t win all the time but it was one of the first decks I put together and modified over the years.

One good way of taking out Yubel the Ultimate Nightmare is to have Amazoness Onslaught activated and attack with a low attack Amazoness monster like Spy or Baby Tiger and just banish Ultimate Nightmare.

Couldn't you use Yubel with the unchained archetype? Since unchained wants to be destroyed and Yubel could be destroyed by there effects to bring out terror and have terror board wipe to trigger unchained effects?

I briefly remember this monster from the anime. You bump it into things and the opponent takes damage. I don't remember if the anime version had a tribute upkeep. I thought that cards gonna get nerfed when it comes out.

Great video! One more downside to Yubel is that if you bring it out and even with protection (lets say solemns or safezones) you still lack a wincondition! With Dark Armed Return you can clear the board and otk but since yubel has 0 atk all you can do is stall. Summoning your own monsters when terrorincarnate is on the field sucks cuz they blow up after the turn....

Your comment "no atk and Def btw" that reminded me of what I'm always telling my cousin. It's not all about attack points or defense point, those numbers don't mean anything if you can't use them.

I won against my cat using Yubel deck, mostly because my cat doesn't have a deck. But that means Yubel is meta.

Its not super relevant, but worth noting that yubel's floating effect misses timing. Destroying yubel on chain link 2 was one of the best ways to remove it in duel links.

Hello, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Nobody. And I Play Yubel. alot. No, not JUST in duel Links, and yes, I'm WELL aware of its weaknesses and lack of viability. XD Actually lucked out against a teledad deck when that was at its prime and went 2-0 against it. Saltiest 30+ year old I've seen to this day. Also won against an Exodia deck by stalling it out till it decked out once. (forced it to summon one of the pieces through chip damage. Kept returning the head to the deck every time he played Gold Sarc to fetch it by summoning Necroface right before it would give it to him) This wasn't because yubel's competitive, it was simply because I've played it often enough to beat the odds. Then I realised that all the cards I use to support Yubel also work on Warm Worm in Duel Links...

I played a killer Yubel deck on the Xbox 360 version of the card game. My opponents would always be so confused on what to do. Then I will add a final countdown! Level 2 Yubel + final countdown + full back row of negates won me soooo many games back in the day.

I'm a little late to this, but I remember running a Fiend deck in my middle school years, and this was my boss monster, and I was undefeated for a while there. It may be because there were only like a dozen players in my hometown at the time, but I had this stupid combo to get Terror Incarnate to the field, use Compulsory Evacuation Device to banish it for a turn, and get its third form. Next turn I'd have them both. It was nasty way back when

Finding this part of youtube is so weird because I basically played for a few years around 2003 and stepped away from the game once my family moved at the start of middle school. Its funny hearing people talk about mu only direct point of reference as this mythical era 🤣. Nothing will ever top going to see that yugioh movie as a kid and getting the free god cards that you couldn't even use.

I actually play yubel even in the modern day (ignoring duel links). Its an extremely defensive setup with Exodia as a win condition. A large chunk of the deck is defensive tools and draw. I don't need Yubel to attack to win, I just need them to discourage my opponent attacking. Between Mystic Tomato and Limit Reverse, keeping a Yubel in play is almost never a problem. I can also turtle behind Marshmallon if I need to, or Swords of revealing Light, Nightmare Steelcage, Negate Attack, Dimensional Prison, Magic Cylinder, or Counter Gate. The deck also runs Sangan and Witch of the Black Forest as extra barriers that can also find exodia pieces if I need them. Supply Squad means I'm not likely to run out of cards in hand, and Raigeki Break is able to snipe a card out if I need something specific gone. The decks also got no reason to not run Pot of Extravagance, so if anything I'm usually overflowing my hand, not running dry. If I do overflow, I can usually just pitch a Yubel card. My goal is usually reanimating them anyway, so it's not something I have to worry about discarding

The best part of Yubel was that it was released alongside DAD, Allure of Darkness, and Dark Grepher

I liked the classic Yubel - Incarnate + Phoenix Nephtis combo. Now there are better options.

I imagine a few support cards would make yubel better: "I'm always near you" spell, add a "yubel" card to your hand "Yubel the guardian angel" monster, if ultimate nightmare is destroyed while this card is in the hand or graveyard, special summon it, then destroy all monsters your opponent controls. If this card leaves the field, send one yubel monster to the graveyard "Yubel the martyr" monster, if this card is sent to the graveyard special summon 1 yubel card from your hand deck or graveyard but destroy it during the end phase. You can banish this card from the graveyard, add 1 yubel card to your hand from the graveyard

I remember trying to use yubel with edge imp scissors to loop it and try to deck out my opponent... Fun times in the schoolyard
