I’m responsible for at least 100 of the views on this. Really good stuff. For a dead sport, there sure are a lot of people making some amazing art about it. Also, just realizing that you all were at Granite Peak in December. Dang it.

Using this as motivation to work on some more telepark skiing. Also the mismatched men’s/women’s tx pros is hilarious.

Will one of you guys please do a tutorial on tele fakie turns? I can not figure out how to get my tips to swing across the fall line when they are uphill of me. What do I do with my weight - uphill, downhill, lean into the turn…? I’m dying to learn what I consider the coolest tele trick!

Check out Absolute Telemark - no affiliation but his Fakir tutorial is excellent.

René-Martin Trudel aka Absolute Telemark has a really good tutorial on this as a part of his paid content, which costs $127. I bought it mostly because I had already found a lot of his content for free online and felt guilty. Didn’t know the fakie tutorial was in there but I found it really useful. Among other things, he uses the falling leaf exercise as a way to start getting comfortable while skiing backwards in the tele stance. FYI, I’m not affiliated with Rene but I do appreciate the stuff he does for the sport.

Awesome video guys! Love the ease and style of freeheel-skiing, and would love to try it. Would it be possible to do some telemark-skiing on twin-tip touring skis, or do I absolutely need tele-bindings? Is freeheel-skiing more dangerous for the knees? I've already got both ACLs replaced :-/.

Hey Peter! Thanks! Hilariously enough, I have seen people make the telemark turn on pinned alpine touring gear. Not recommended however! Telemark bindings from 22 Designs and Bishop will make the telemark experience much better for you and it will also provide you with more support in the turn. I have personally always felt tele is nicer for the knees as they will serve as a suspension system for variable terrain through your turn. However, tele bindings are still not DIN certified releasable, though some bindings now can release in certain crashes! If you’re in the Colorado area we can set ya up to try tele!

Chris and Greg are riding the BMF/3s in the film. I also ride Bishops (3s and Rs) quite often and love them. Great response from the team if you have any questions or issues as well! I say, go for it!

@@telecolo_ I currently have 75mm boots but wondering if I should upgrade to a NTN boot (BMF/R comes in both 75mm and NTN setup). I have been alpine skiing for 40+ yrs and tele for 5+ yrs. now. I want to have a good 80% resort/20% backcountry and uphill skinning setup. From my research on the internet, you would think that guys with 75mm boots vs NTN boots were doing two completely separate sports (lots of opinions). Since the BMF/R's can handle both . . . its really just about what boot is a better all around boot going forward. Thoughts?

@@dalbecsail 75 mm vs. NTN has caused quite the curfuffle in the telemark community. At one time, NTN was the "NEW" technology. However, it has been around for quite a while. NTN allowed a new type of telemark binding connection to the boot resulting in increases in lateral stiffness for some tele brands. 22 Designs bindings will connect to the "2nd Heel" or "Duck Butt" underneath the arch, while a Bishop will connect to the heel, similar to the original 75 mm connections. As a heads up, the 75 mm vs. NTN boot will require a particular toe cage fit. So if you get an NTN boot, you will need to get an NTN style toe cage for Bishop (or any NTN bindings from 22 Designs). It is a crazy world out there in binding tech! And it is all good! Feel free to shoot me an email at info@telemarkcolorado.com and I can help you out further!

Is crispi still making 75 mm boots or is the rumor true that they are stopping? I got the bishop are bindings and really like them. I just need to still get used to house if they are compared to my cables. Thinking about getting a new pair of Crispi 75 mm my aging XR's.

A lot of this seems to be just park tricks whilst wearing Tele gear, not actually doing much Tele at all.
