it's a sad era for tennis tbh, the new gen are just so weak. Before a slam even started you just knew it would be won by djoko or rafa in the last 2/3 years. The fact that casper made 3/5 finals shows the lvl of the tour (this is not to disrespect him but a decade ago, he'll never have made it), we went from having the likes of del potro, Wawrinka, Murray, Thiem to zverev, tsitsi, casper... The only two that are even remotely competitive are Medvedev (but only on hard courts) and Alcaraz potentially. Wimbledon is basically already decided. No more raonic, Murray, tsonga, berdych, no one can play on grass

Ridiculous. The new gen are the strongest in history, and by a wide margin. Ever since both the ATP increased focus on promoting next gen, creation of the next gen end-of-year finals, and players' association led by Novak himself pushing for more prize money share for lower ranked players, young talent has been given a huge push to close the gap faster with the best the game has seen, and results have been obvious: far more newcomers in the top 20. To be able to stay atop a heap that's at the level the big 3 were a few years ago: that's just how great Novak is. He keeps working & improving.

As a Nadal fan, I’m more of tennis fan than anything and I have to say that Djokovic is a monster. Every time they played against each other, I always feared Nadal playing Djokovic. I knew years ago that Djokovic was catching on to Nadal’s Gand and he truly knew how to beat him. Many times I screamed at the tv screen begging to change his game up against Djokovic. The serve being the biggest thing Nadal need to change and the second thing was Nadal had to change his way he played because he was to predictable. Djokovic’s game is almost perfect, the guy really has no weaknesses.

The biggest difference between let's say Federer against Nadal and Djokovic against Nadal was Djokovic's ability to absorb on his backhand the spin of Nadal's forehand and wide serve on the ad court on break points... Pretty much negated Nadal's greatest assets Add Djokovic's greater physical conditioning post-2011 and mental strength, and you have the game's GOAT

I can’t seem to find the video but I remember a long time ago when Uncle Toni gave an interview and he said that after seeing the first match between Novak and Nadal he told Rafa that they had a problem with Novak. Novak is basically a hybrid of Nadal and Federer. He practically has no weaknesses. Many of the points you’ve highlighted about Djokovic was in his game from the beginning except his service motion. In 2010 Novak had the most DF in the top ten and he was number 3 in the world. Once Djokovic got his service going, his confidence clicked and his physicality just made everything perfect. Man Djokovic is almost unplayable when he’s on. As a die hard Nadal fan. I can safely say that Novak was better than him even at 20/20/20. So my GOAT tier is Novak, Rafa and Roger in that order.

Wrong. Nadal and Djokovic played 10 (TEN) matches at Roland Garros, 3 at the USO, 3 at Wimbledon and only 2 at the AO. So they played 10 matches on Rafas best surface and only 2 on Djokovics best surface. Makes a LITTLE bit of a difference doesn`t it? Regarding the US Open, they were not both in their prime in 2010. It was Nadals best year and Djokovic was slamless that year. Djokovic before 2011 was a much weaker player and was diagnozed with gluten-allergy in 2010. Since then he has dominated the sport (he is ONE year younger than Nadal). Since 2011 Djokovic leads 2:0 at Wimbledon (Nadal won once in 2007 and his other win on grass was Queens club 2008). Fifteen years ago was the last time Nadal beat Djokovic on grass and 10 years ago was the last time Nadal beat Djokovic on a hard court (or even won a set!). Since Djokovic hit his prime things are way different. Nadal still has a very good H2H simply because he had a big lead before 2011 and it was 16:7. SINCE and including 2011 the score is 13:23 in favor of Djokovic who now leads 30:29. They have played more matches on clay (28) than on hard courts (27) and 5 of their last 6 matches were on clay. What are the odds of that?

Just to be clear around 20 out of those 29 matches, that Nadal ever won against Novak all came on clay court surfaces, on which Nadal is considered to not just be the greatest of all times, but to such an extent, that some people proclaim him as "clay court God"! If you look at Nadal's resume on that particular surface - you can see why! So no - Nadal having won 20 matches on clay against Djokovic is NOT equal to Djokovic having won 20 on hard courts! As anyone and they will tell you how much harder it is to beat Nadal on clay, than Djokovic on hard courts (even if it's slow hard...)...it's just not one and the same! Not to mention how much their h2h meetings at grand slams in particularly are skewed toawrds RG, with 10 of like 18 meetings happening on that particular grand slam tournament! Given how many times they played at RG and put it in the context of how great Nadal is at RG it's not hard to see how unfair this advantage is to Djokovic!

This in general taints all the H2H matches for Nadal. He is so much better on clay than other surfaces he faces the top players that are more allround mostly on clay. Phah, not hard to have a H2H lead in slams when like 70% of all your slam matches were played at RG (Nadal’s best surface). Remove RG and it’s 5-3 Djokovic, and actually Djokovic leads 15-13 in finals. Nadal played better in 2011 than 2010, made more finals, had a higher ELO rating but just always fell short to Djokovic who completely transformed since 2010 and became a different beast.

I admit Novak developed over the years into a near perfect player but i wouldn't say nadal wouldn't have been able to reach a similar level of dominance and proficiency, as his body never allowed him to be as physically dominant into such a late age as novak is soing right now. We saw last year that if nadal hadn't gotten injured in wimbledon he would have been a huge contender for the title and personally think he would have brought it to Djokovic. But as always injuries have to stop him when he is at his best.

Good video but you forgot to mention one important detail. Prior to this year, Since 2011, Nadal pulled out of 17 tournaments years due to injury. Only 1 was on Clay. Considering that Nadal hasn't been able to even win a set of Novak on hardcourt in ten years, It's safe to say that not only did Nadal not lose on any tournaments he could have won, but he actually maintained his winning record against Federer and kept himself within distance of Novak by avoiding hardcourts, where almost every player in the top 40 posed more danger to Novak on hardcourt than Nadal did. There is a very high probability that Nadal wasn't as injured as we were lead to believe, if he only missed out on one clay court due to injury in a 10 year span.

If Fed maybe wouldn't have been so dominant in the beginning he might have developed a stronger work ethic like djocovich. Actually, just if I look at Wimbi 19 Fed being 5 years older and having the pressure to please the world by winning and by a razor thin margin almost did shows me how almost superior he can play. Worst of all there it tries to argue that Djokoviv has a better serve because he made ~1500 more points on second serve than Nadal but Nadal hasv the higher second serve win rate... djokoviv just plays more second serves due to a combination of playing more games per match on average than Nadal and having a lower first serve percentage.. Nadal controversially withdrew from 2016's French Open after destroying Bagnis (6-3, 6-0, 6-3). Just before the round that, for the first and last time in FO story, required mandatory independent PED testing. Since whole Nadal's dominance on clay is based on his physical ability to overrun his opponents, Djokovic's wins on clay should be valued a lot more than on every other surface. It can be compared to Fedor Emelianenko, who fought much bigger and undoubtedly juiced opponents (as well as complete trash cans, but that's another story), finding keys to neutralise pure physical strenght and outsmarting them in general. Hope Novak will be able to find keys to another spanish "natural" physical specimen, who seems to repeat his elder compatriots path, but much earlier in his career.

@@jennysambrook3528 I can. Many don't know about Nadal's dark side of unsportsmanship. But once you know that you understand that he's not only below Federer but also below Djokovic, by a huge margin. At the 2022 Australian Open, he took an break that included both a medical evaluation and a toilet visit, something which is against the rules; Nadal did this between the 4th and 5th sets of his QF match against Shapovalov, when he was on the verge of losing from 2 sets to 0 up. In the 3rd set of the final against Medvedev, Nadal slowed down the match to destroy Medvedev's rhythm and let the racists in the crowd take control, a crowd that was super one-sided anyway. Among his other displays of unsportsmanship: * Bullying opponents mid-match when momentum is with the opponent. Nadal did it to Fognini, Sonego and Berdych, among other players. Djokovic and Federer never behaved like that. * There were times when his opponents hit an ace and Nadal lied and pretended he was not ready. 2 notable examples are the 2017 Wimbledon 4th round match against Muller (4th game of the 3rd set) and the 2019 US Open final against Medvedev (5th game of the 5th set). * Sore loserness. Djokovic has always been humble in defeat, better than any other player of his era. Federer has improved in this category since 2012. When Nadal lost a match he believed he should have won (which happens most of the time) he gives a sore face to the opponent when they shake hands, even against Djokovic and Murray. * Nadal has avoided Djokovic and Federer outside of clay since 2018-2019, once he figured out that he can't beat them on fast surfaces anymore. 4 notable cases are the 2018 Australian Open quarterfinal (retired mid-match against Čilić before the first changeover of the 5th set and avoided Federer in the final), the 2019 Indian Wells masters semifinal (didn't lose a set prior to this match but still gave a walkover to Federer and avoided him), the 2019 Paris indoors masters semifinal (Nadal never won the Paris indoors masters but instead of giving himself a chance he gave a walkover to Shapovalov and avoided Djokovic in the final) and the 2022 Wimbledon semifinal (Nadal was unbeatable in Grand Slam tournaments in 2022 up to this point but instead of giving himself a chance for the Calendar Grand Slam he gave a walkover to Kyrgios and avoided Djokovic in the final). You are a poor Novak fanatic. I ama Rafa fan and still consider Novak the GOAT but respect both of them.

Honestly Novak is not the best tennis player. Novak only dominates in Australia but he is behind Federer in US Open by 2 Grand Slams, Nole is also behind Federer in Wimbledon and worse he is 11 Grand Slams behind Nadal in Roland Garros which is an impossibility for Novak. Federer even retired beats Novak in US Open and Wimbledon. Honestly Novak is not even close to being the GOAT.

I still feel Rafa had the edge on higher bounce hard courts such as the US Open. Djokovic has the career edge on Nadal but Nadals physical decline since 2010 also played a massive part in the rivalry swinging

Where do these hallucinations come from? Novak is a year younger than Rafa and met him for the first time in 2006. In their third meeting that was at 2007 Miami , Novak beat Rafa in two sets and won his first Masters title - Miami, which Nadal has never won until now

Whatever spin Noel's detractors like Martina, Wilander and their ilk put on their aspersions on NOEL, he is undoubtedly the GOAT unless someone in the future overtakes him! 🎉👑

Nadal didn't beat Djokovic on grass since 2008, and didn't take a SET from Djokovic on hard courts since 2013. And Nadal still has negative h2h against Djokovic.
