The issue I find with food is you tend to like what you’re familiar with and if you can’t fill that particular palette it sort of feels like a let down. When I order something common, I’m anticipating it to have the same particular taste as at home, and when it’s different it leaves something to be desired (even that food itself is objectively good, it’s just different). This is my personal experience having spent considerable time away from my home country.
