Mahomes had a total grasp at Texas Tech. Knew what his receivers could do, to a 'T.' Like Favre throwing 50-50 balls to Brooks and Freeman, because he knew they could go get it. In the first week or two, Mahomes adjusted to the athleticism of NFL corners. People think he was a crazy gunslinger in college, but the risks he took were calculated. You could see, then, and you could see, last year in preseason and again in Week 17, that Mahomes got it. The extra year allowed him to clean up his footwork and technique from under center, rather than learning on-the-fly with real bullets. But I still think he would've prospered, if push came to shove. That's why he was quickly elevated to the #2 QB. I saw enough of him and enough of Alex in the 3rd quarter of his last game as a Chief, to want Mahomes to come in and try to spark something in that 2nd half. What a ruckus that would've caused! In the meantime, they were gonna spend on Sammy Watkins, with or without Alex Smith, because that's how they do. Watkins will be off the books before the all the non-WR picks they're going to take in the next couple years. Pay for WR. Draft trenches and D.

Partick is breakout player of the year. He will have games where he hits the wall but, he reminds me of Aaron Rodgers first year as a starter where he showed he was better than faver at that time. Chiefs not only have the top trio of offensive playmakers they have a full Quint. The 90's Cowboys didn't have a top shelf tight end. Should be the most productive NFL offense until Tyreek's new contract demands cuts elsewhere. Mahomes could conceivably become the highest paid QB 4 years from now. Contract renewals will be the end of Reid's high powered offense.

Stephen A's unfamiliarity with NFL practice is why he wasn't sufficiently receptive to the "what he's doing in practice" reference. Much of the QB work in practice is like what he'll face in the game as it pertains to coverage and defensive looks so a ridiculous throw in practice is done against much of what he'll face in a game. He won't get hit like he will in a game but that's why practice reps for QBs is so important.
