Just as Liz Gilbert said: "Perfectionism is fear in high-heeled shoes". And I'd been so giulty of it for so long before I started my channel! And you know what? My world did not crumble, people didn't start hating and YES I'm embarassed of my past work and in the future I'll be embarassed because of what I'm doing now. But i ain't stopping me! Keep rocking, Marie!!! Keep going for progress, not perfection :)

Great advice! I agree that You have to start somewhere. That is the best way to improve and get some feedback. As a creative content creator and a new coach I struggle with this sometimes also, but I've grown so much by simply putting myself out there.

I created a whole KZfaq Channel around this basic concept. One thing that I struggle with is fighting the feeling that, "I need to be perfect." When looking back at my very first video I cringe... Although I'm early in my journey of creating a business and a life I love, I found that by living in my truth , while learning and progressing, I continue to grow my passion of sharing my truth with others. Lets not look back on our lives and think, "What might have been?"

Gosh I love this! I've just published my first book on self-esteem and confident living. If I had waited until it was "perfect" then I would never have gotten it out there... We can always go back and revise, I've realised that dreams SHOULDN'T wait! So many famous authors have stated that there are still parts of their books they would change. Perfection is overrated. Love your channel Marie! x

My own personal mantra has been, "Strive for Excellence, Not Perfection," and it has served me well. I have never generally liked the words "perfect" or "perfection." We can never be perfect, and why would we want to be?! Perfection is over-rated, annoying, and not necessary. I started my own business three years ago this month, and this non-perfect excellent business owner has more than doubled my sales in three years. Not too shabby! Throw the word perfection out of your personal dictionary, and replace it with "thriving, learning, passion, higher self, and self-actualization."

Since I am my own boss sometimes it's tough to stop tweaking when you don't have someone to be responsible to for your deadlines - I find myself constantly putting off my deadlines because I want to keep adding and tweaking my work 🙈👎 - I am learning how important it is to have more content than to have perfect content - thank you for this great reminder 🙌

This can be a tough one because it can take experience to know if what you are working on is good enough yet. For example, if you are building a site for the first time, you may not know if your site is professional enough yet to get the clients you want or if it still looks a bit amateurish. It can be a fine line and a balancing act. But after more experience with creating sites, you have a much better understanding. So a lot of this depends on experience, which also takes time to gain.

I always set a check-off when I think I',m over-perfecting something. Let's talk about dishes and soap. When I started doing my dishes, I just didn't know how much to clean. I kept on sponging a plate endlessly, not believing that it was perfectly clean. So I decided to just use the sponge thrice on any area and that will surely get anything I needed to clean. Till this day, I don't sponge my dishes more than three rubs a go B| For a blog, I have a checklist of 10 to 12 formatting rules that I go through, and once all of them are met, it's time to publish. You have to take out time to spot the reason behind your perfectionism and see how to tackle it effectively. "Effectively" I said. So you can rest assured that checking off the things you're deciding on will really help you do that task up to the standard that truly resonates with you.

Techniques...hmmm...depends on what way perfectionism is stopping you. The best thing for me so far has been to set a time limit and get things done in a certain time and focus on the completion and intent.

I would just stamp a deadline on it. It's that simple. If you don't have it done by then, oh well. But remember to give yourself a thought-out amount of time for it, including time for at least a few tweaks. Like Marie said, you don't want to put crap out there. lol.
