This will be an expensive and popular set simply because it's the original 151 and nothing else. Case in point; people like me. I stopped playing sometime after Gym 2 because I didn't really care about any of the new pokemon, but now I'm back at 39 years old shelling out way more money than I thought I would to collect this set.

I am in my 30s. I played, collected the Gen 1 cards as a kid. The games were coming out for gameboy color, had the tv series. It was huge then. Over the years i lost my cards and i had quite a few. I lost interest as i was older even though they were still producing the newer generations. I didnt have the connection to the new stuff untill i found out about the 151s being redone. I am back collecting again, Really nostalgic. been 25 years since i opened a pack lol. Trying for the master set. Getting there.

thanks for your analysis, and im totally agree with you. This is one of the best set ever. Its The 151 first pokemons, its a big value in the eyes of many collectors, EACH illustration is awesome even the common cards have amazing artworks, and if you didnt care about it since today, each evolution line from this set is drawed from the same illustrator. So the global lines looks awesome together. Thats why im trying to complete an entire set of 151, and i keep by side one display box sealed cause of some increase of the value in some years. I hope i can afford some other display in a near future, cause its really worth and a nice feeling to open them !! ( i opened already 4 displays, and the only big big hit was the Erika Master Ball, my SR´s was Alakazam, Zapdos, Golem, and Daisy but 0 SAR i had haha really hard to pull ! and thats increase the values for sure too ! )

I wish they’d brand it as a first edition. People would jump on it and then drop it as second edition or reprint “options “ then we’d 10000% see a spike in pricing

It's not only that, but also the fact that a lot of now a days collectors in their 30's - 40's were too young when the first cards came out, and never had the chance to buy them back then or got a few of them and maybe lost some if not all of the cards since then. To buy cards from the base set now a days either you buy them in good/bad condition for a fair price or you spend a looooot of money, and cards like charizard etc you better forget about them because they are incredibly expensive. Now with this set these collectors have a good chance to buy cards with all the 151 which I believe there is a lot of nostalgia mixed. So for example, I fit in the example above and I know a lot of collectors in the same situation, and this set is amazing for us, I feel that this set will bring a lot of memories and an opportunity to get what we couldn't when we were young.

151 will be printed more than Eevee Heroes, there is more demand and exposure for 151 though you make good points for the case but we"ll have to wait and see how much and how long 151 will be printed before we can compare it to other products no doubt it will be a good product long term but if they keep producing the packs the prices will drop eventually and the market value of the cards will follow eevee heroes also benefits off the Evolving skies shortage and hype, something that the JP 151 set will not

I just looked up an etb for evolving skies and I bought like 10 of them. I wish i kept them sealed because they are selling for around $300 right now.. i lost interest in pokemon after celebrations.. but i seen 151 and people loved opening this set, so i invested in a couple etbs just to see how long i can hold onto them. Im not really interested in opening them.. but seeing how evolving skies went up in price.. i think it’s worth holding onto..

i personally think the english set will be similar to crown zenith - the card prices after 2-3 months will be over 50% lower than they are on release. pokemon will reprint this set repetitively for over half a year after launch and it will be too easily accessible like zenith. for the japanese version, prices will be quite high but no where near eevee heroes due to over printing it, collectors in 2023 have caught on that japanese is more profitable at times than english and the box prices are over hyped at $180ish when they should be $110 max.

151 definitely aside from base set is by far one of my favorite sets to open! English and Japanese!

I got news for you, the151 Japanese set will be reprinted, because of this, their prices plunged, almost overnight when leaks of the reprint started to make the rounds. Now, the English version cards are more valuable than the Japanese ones. In fact, I cheated on my masterlist binder, because i can not find Venusaur EX full art and Blastoise EX fulll art for decent price, so I substituted the Japanese version for those 2 cards, at the fraction of the cost. The English 151 were already restocked a few months before this writing (sometime before December 2023), and packs are mostly gone now in the open market.

I kept a few boxes as investment. :)

Unpopular opinion: I feel that the Charizard SAR card could have been done better because Charizard is just so tiny in the card. However, Blastoise SAR is the coolest card for me in this set

Hate to say it, but I disagree with most of the things said in this video. Eevee Heroes (EH) had one initial print run, then a smaller print run a few months later. 151 has so far had two large print runs, the initial one, as well as a second at the end of July. The made-to-order boxes are in addition to this. The Pokemon Center Japan (PCJ) will most likely have additional print runs of 151 past the made-to-order much like they did with the last bunch of sets since Oct 2022 which will drive the price down. I’ve been collecting Japanese since 2019, there seems to be *way* more boxes of 151 on the market than there ever was of EH. People buying cases of 151 is commonplace now, this wasn’t the case for EH. Most people only bought single boxes, because that was the only thing that was available. This would indicate to me that there is a lot more product on the market. PCJ in the last year has said they recognize that there are product shortages and are working to remedy the situation, and to ramp up production. Looking at the actual singles in the set, are there any cards in 151 that anyone feels will reach the value of Umbreon or any other Vmax or regular V alt arts? Will the Blastoise SAR Alt Art currently being sold for $50 ever reach the value of Sylveon HR Alt Art which is being sold for $600? In the last year or so there has been a HUGE increase in the number of people collecting Japanese. These new people are cracking boxes and putting away sealed in large numbers. For most of the time I have collected, I have said Japanese is superior to English. Most of the time this fell on deaf ears until very, very recently. Most long time collectors have feel that the current price of 151 is way overpriced and over-hyped. 151 will go up in price, it’s a good set, but nowhere near on the level of Eevee Heroes IMO.

JP 151 will be big as there isnt enough supply. Thousands of pre orders & store allocations cut. PCJP 151 made to order boxes being cancelled by the thousands over the last couple days. Even PlazaJapan have had to cancel all there pre orders from June onwards. As for English 151, that will be printed so much people will be stick of it. So it will do well but not in english

I’m not trying to be negative but dang man, almost everything you said here is the opposite in reality. MB are Japanese and Korean only. There’s been tons of reprints. People can’t get rid of these boxes now; FB groups have tons available under 140 a box. Singles and slabs continue to drop in price each week. This is gonna be the XY era all over again; you will have to wait a decade for major returns on 151 English sealed products.

nah, eveyrone is buying this in thousand of cards, the market has changed , people buy these, pull 4-5 carda and sell or give away all the rest of the cards. the edition is being reprinted over and over... this makes it not rare, therefore if you expect this box to become as expensive as the set base booster box then keep dreaming.

Japanese cards do not really naturally go up in value like English cards do. I feel bad for any of you that spend money on japanese cards. You all just follow each other and have no clue. The content of 151 is nothing like Eevee Heroes. Charizard and company just don’t hit the same way that Moonbreon and company do. Although 151 feels more satisfying to open because of the ARs, it just won’t have the same value.

I assume you're well versed enough in pokemon cards to be aware that this isnt a good set. Which leaves the only logical inference being that you are being paid. I'd love to understand why you would promote this terrible set as the best set?
