In this week’s episode, I take you on-location and discuss why pro landscape photographers use these productivity hacks. I was able to spend an incredible two weeks photographing the fall colors along the San Juan Mountains in Colorado after my Fall Workshop recently wrapped up. And, one of the biggest takeaways from that workshop was a technique that many landscape photographers use to better tell the story of a location which also increases productivity when on location. I think all photographers would like to be more productive when on location in order to increase their "keeper" rate and this productivity hack will most certainly do just that! I hope you enjoy this week's episode and as always thanks so much for watching! - Mark D.

It's those unexpected moments that remind you why photography is so important to you. I had one of those moments about six weeks ago and it's hard to describe the feeling, and the camera never left my hand until my wife said that we were losing the light and time to call it a day. I liked your image of the frosted leaf with the dew drop.

A great morning in an aspen grove... it doesn't get much better for Colorado woodland photography. I did a back road drive up Grand Mesa in western Colorado 2 weeks ago, and although the weather was very different - stormy, gray and even dense fog up on top - I still managed to find some memorable images among the aspens along the way. And a few days later I got my first good sunburst out here on the northeastern plains along the South Platte river near my home, with the sun peeking through the brilliant yellow leaves of a cottonwood tree. Those are the things that keep us out shooting.

Lovely aspen woodland. The sunburst image was a real gem, but in all of those images you found an element that helped to simplify the chaos of the woodland landscape. Zooming out a little was a great tip as well.

Hello Mark, On the east coast that style of fence is known as “split rail”, although here in the west they seem to utilize more whole pieces of wood… I like the “macro” shot, sometimes the shot is right below your feet… One suggestion, use a darker background when displaying your final shots. It’ll make the image stand out more so. I’m watching on an 85” TV in a fairly dark room, thus all of that light color is a bit overwhelming… Safe travels
