Initiator has seen many different metas throughout the years, however one agent is 2024 has seen meteoric rise, and that is Gekko. Compared to champions last year to Kickoff, 4.5 times increase in use rate, which is an insane increase in pick rate. Here's why and how to play Gekko Effectively!

I’d say it’s mostly because gekko is the second hybrid initiator cuz for a long time Skye was the only hybrid initiator having a recon ability and an engaged based ability, and ever since the nerfs to Skye and buffs to gekko, he’s getting picked more, this is a trend I notice riot does whenever releasing agents. Example: Sova for a long time was the only recon initiator then as soon as fade was released she was the second recon initiator released and was bound to get equally picked as sova depending on team comps and scenarios

Spotted a couple of mistakes at 04:12 onwards - it might not be what you're intended to say but the wording makes people misunderstand: The viper smoke and the brim smokes are from 100T and not LEV, which in no ways should be helping the Gekko utils (however it coincidentally does). It is best to not acknowledge those enemy utils as support for LEV utils. Overall though, solid video and I'm really happy to learn some more stuff about gekko.

I honestly don’t get why pro players say he’s bad, he’s literally the equivalent of Skye but weaker at the time, until Skye was nerfed gekko became the initiator pick for his flash (dizzy) and his recon (thrash)
