French Montana was talking out his ass. The industry pushing conscious rap over street rap? That’s an obvious cope
@citypopradioFM

Facts, he's being absolutely ridiculous with those statements. The industry cartel has pushed gangsta rap since the early 90's in favor of any and all conscious rap, and even when Eminem opened huge doors for rap demographics, the industry doubled-down and never stopped until arguably slowed down with pushing the SoundCloud era of hip-hop.... but street stuff will always sell. I've been a big Kendrick fan since before Section.80 dropped and he's only dominated the genre and culture because of pure talent, nothing fake about him, and obvious backing (and hype) from cosigns from Dre and virtually everyone else that were way deserved. When Kendrick began getting more and more notice here in LA and elsewhere, folks like myself were saying, "We got one, we finally got one" knowing he was absolutely going to be the next big thing for the West Coast even before the Interscope and Dre (literal and figurative) cosigns. French Montana and artists of his ilk are cool to keep their lanes but to insist on this absurdity that the industry favors conscious hip-hop shows he's bitter at nothing but himself. Kendrick and conscious hip-hop artists have and want nothing to do with what French Montana does lol.

Don't be disappointed in Drake because he did everything in his power. I've been waiting for this beef to bubble over since 2017 after Kendrick dropped Heart Part 4, Drake ducked, but then Drake took on Pusha the very next year only to lose badly in that battle. Drake was never somehow untouchable; he outclassed Meek in 2015 with a whole machine behind him while Meek, to be fair, was dealing with a drug problem and other issues. Still, people hold up Drake for that like he's some scary hip-hop battle god when a lot of folks knew it was a whole farce. Drake had no shot against Kendrick in any hip-hop battle which is why he thought he had a shot to "win" by tapping into the streamers, the KZfaqrs, the radio listeners, and the hip-hop casuals to sway opinion under the dumber presumption that Kendrick wouldn't have the energy and heat to drop back to back (much less back to further back). Drake has a whole army of elite-level industry writers, producers, and label pushers on his side so he thought the machine would win against a man. People with sense knew that all the machine power in the world couldn't beat Kendrick who's a whole force when he's woken up. Kendrick even said on Heart Part 4, "the 5 foot giant just woke up out of his sleep" to instigate the beef that Drake didn't want back then in the first place. Kendrick was waiting and he outdid, outclassed, and out-rapped Drake in every way, so don't feel bad, Drake fans. Push Ups and even Family Matters had nothing on masterpieces like Meet the Grahams or Not Like Us being the whole club dancing on Drake's grave around the whole planet.

Eminem’s legacy is directly tied to Kendrick. And Eminem battled when you had to rhyme on beat and improvise.

Nah the thing that Kendrick has the Culture behind him the culture respects the hell out of Eminem but would never follow him cause I can't follow a white man as a black man

@@ZDXP84 Exactly why it dont make sense for someone to say “Eminem is number one and Drake is number 2” but I’ve heard that multiple times these past weeks. If Kendrick was white or even light skinned he’d be called the GOAT unanimously
@ZDXP84
@ZDXP84 Ай бұрын
@@jeffwilliams2828 some people are playing ... When they do be saying that and the other thing the culture has never depended on whether you light skin or dark skin (which is what I'm gonna take it as cause you never said white) it has depends on a lot of critique that drake does not fall into and Kendrick would even if he was light skinned example where a person from Kendrick is from Crompton drake is from Canada where Eminem from? Cause like I said I respect Eminem more than ....... Drizzy boy cause Eminem ain't never lie to us but drake did especially on worst behavior pretending like he from he was raised in his dad hood when he hadn't known the dude
@jeffwilliams2828
@jeffwilliams2828 Ай бұрын
@@ZDXP84 yeah, I said white in there. It’s the reason a minted album like Good Kid Maad City could lose to Macklemore. GKMC is a better album than the Marshall Mathers LP, but white people largely ignored him for Drake, Macklemore or even Adele and Fergie back then.

Lupe Fiasco is the only artist with both the lyrical ability and street pedigree to go against Kendrick... but even Lupe admits Kendrick makes better songs. So it's hard to see how he'd win if Kendrick hit him with a "They Not Like Us" style banger which he could probably do in his sleep.
