So I appear to have made a few typos that I didn't catch. 1:25 - Professor A. has 0.6 seconds of slow, not freeze. 8:50 - Galactic Overseer Nyandam still has a 50% chance to slow 9:00 - Deonil has 0.5 seconds of freeze, not slow.

I think the worst part of resist talents is the fact that they somehow cost more than immunities. Like, why? Why would you put something objectively much worse, more expensive? If their costs were adjusted to their value, then maybe they can be useful(at least some of them). I wouldn't mind spending 20 or 30 np for some resist talents, but the fact that they usually cost 100+ np is absurd

It's not the effect. It's always the cost. When a full immunity is cheaper than stats resist, people are gonna complain. The situation would be lot different if Resist Talent costs cheaper. PONOS doesn't know shit how to make good use of their resource system.

Only type of resist talents I have gotten is resist slow on sushi for the slime cat stage, and resist curse on someone else for something, i forgor. Overall, it’s basically never worth

Chronos getting curse resist was godsend though at the very least and one of the few times where the resist talent is 100% worth the cost

I know this is a really niche use, but Cats in the Cradle's slow resist was helpful on floor 45 for Queen B. Of course, sacrificing 175 np for one stage probably wasn't the best investment, but what's done is done.

I still can't get over curse resist talent for Liberty, you literally have to buy KB vs aliens first (which may be a bad idea too) and in the end it won't change anything lol

In my opinion, if warp resist will ever be added it'll only decrease how far it'll be warped, as usual it might be outclassed by warped immunity

Issue is PONOS is still doing this even with recent batches of Talents, I know one recent one that had me hyped was Twinstar Talents chance, and seeing Wave Resist as a Talent for her just seemed really odd. I know Alien/Black don't often use Waves but having Wave Immune as Talent would help her a lot more against Alien Queen Pigge or other similar enemies. Heck, it would gives her a somewhat interesting role as a Wave Immune Rusher. Not an amazing role but at least one that could be decent.

One thing I would change that would probably make this better is just halve the chance the Effect hits the unit, instead of Resisting the damage they just have a 50% chance at level max to "Dodge" the indicated CC / Wave / Surge.

I think an interesting idea would have been to make resist resist the chance of a status being applied to a unit, as that would have made it somewhat useful, still not great, but not useless

Come to think of it, meatshields would be good with freeze resist especially against the examples shown: Wicked Face, Deonil and Henry. Henry is obvious, the other two can randomly stop your meatshields, but it's quite likely that you can afford them to be stopped for 0.5 or 0.6s but not 1.67 or 2s. They'd also theoretically benefit from kb resist but idk how practically useful it is (like slow resist is theoretically the same as freeze resist but fewer relevant enemies) Toxic Resist also sounds pretty good like in the Lil Eraser examle mentioned.

Imo I think all immunity talents should have resists build up to them (so if an immune talent costed 100 np, it would split into 10 10np upgrades building up to them), and all resists should be replaced with immune (in the way said earlier).

I personally had good experience with gamereon's KB resist, especially vs h.nah, where I think is the only time a resist talent is better than an immunity

Lufalan is an example of resist talents just being a cop-out. Weaken immunity vs max surge resist being 100 vs 175, respectively, just doesn't add up. Don't even get me started on Aphro's array of resists, Ponos was afraid of making best battle cats waifu too powerful.

I think if you have a tank for example hevijak he dosent have immune to aku death surge to resist could be useful for adding that little bit of extra defense

Actually certain resist talents are decent due to the fact that immunities would make unit completely broken. For example, Ramen’s slow and knockback resist. Not saying that this is better than immune, but let’s be honest, Ramen is already OP. Curse resist sucks, the time that remains is already enough to break him in two. Btw I believe resist talents actually lower the effect by 70%, not 50%.

In the case of Tank/Meatshield units, the Surge, Wave, and Toxic resists can make a difference, but then again, why use them when immune units exist (beyond maybe deployment cost)?

I think the reasoning Ponos had for giving resistances and not immunities is that it would make a unit way too good. Imagine curse and slow immune Ramen. Or a curse immune Chronos. It would completely remove their counters. Sometimes resistances *should* have been immunities though. Like with Twinstars, who, in my opinion, should've gotten wave immune instead of resist, because then they'd have a unique anti-wave rusher role.

i agree with this but there are some small occasions where they arent terrible such as with the freeze resist henry thing, i also think wave resist isn't horrible for roe cat for berserkory or two-can. You can also go for slow resist on roe for better professor a coverage. Other than those and a few others tho resist talents suck ass.

The only use I see from slow resist is from the Madoka Magica collab gauntlet stage. In this stage there is a rapid attacking nuker boss witch that slows any survivors. There are no peons but the witch does so much damage that she can knockback nearly all units and slow them allowing the boss to slowly advance. However with a slow resist talented Jiangshi, they can survive and be fast enough to slow the boss indefinitely.

Does anyone think resist talents would be useful at all if they were a one time upgrade, but price at a leveled upgrade? For example, 5-15 np for what the max of the resist talents go to. Ex: 25 np = a lvl 10 resist

Resist can be better by having some Resist talent reduce the Effect rather than How long it is (lsay enemy Slow doesnt set the speed to 1 but 5 or Winggie pigge doesnt weaken your unit by 99 but 50 instead)..

What do you think about Chronos and their main talent Resist Curse? I mean she's an uber who revolves around cc and stages with curses like Loris and Relic Doge Base basically shut her down, so while the curse resist is good for her kit, it would be better if she had full on immunity.

I also think that a lot of time, most units that “do” benefit from resist talents either dont fit them or are too circumstantial. Not to mention that some units that receive these talents are just too frail for them to be of any practical use.

I think a nice rework would be to make resist talents a 1-time purchase for the max effect, while full immunity is a 5 level upgrade, going from 20% resistance and adding 20% resistance until the unit reaches 100% (full immunity)

To be honest I've only gotten resist freeze max on Katapult. It should probably stack with the resist freeze decoration on the cat base for a 85%.

instead of throwing resist talents in when you don’t know what to give a unit, just don’t give them 5 talents. its a self-imposed rule for no reason, and would allow for talents later down the line that might actually be useful. The might bomburr has 6 talents because they gave him 5 initially, one of which is resist freeze. When they gave him soulstrike, it added on, meaning the amount of talents a unit has is inherently meaningless

I think slow resist could have *some* usage on meatshields to reduce the downtime of your meatshields, especially the faster ones

A big problem with giving talents tosome cats is when you give talents to already strong cats. Ramen gets hit the most by this. You absolutely can not give him immunities since it will basically nullify his weaknesses and just create an extremely overpowered unit who can also be upgraded up to level 130. You also can't give him abilities such as strong or massive damage and upgrading to insanely tough is out of the question. Lastly giving any form of cc will once again make him op. Therefore you are out of options. You either give him resistance or give nothing. Does it make buying resist worth? No, but it is better than nothing. A decent attempt to fix the issue would be to give greater resistance (upgrade to 90%) and make it a one time purchase like immunity.

The reason I hate resist talents is because 90% of the time they are use when Ponos is out of ideas for a talent. Another thing is they ruin a unit potential, the best example and probably the most popular one is Aphrodite and a more recent example, and personally, the example that hurt me the most is Twinstars. Like I get Aphrodite is already powerful but what is with Twinstars? The resist talents on not broken or just normal units is just stupid. Oh and the fact that they cost more NPs than full immunity is just dumb.

Resist Curse and Resist Slow lower the duration of curse and slow respectively, not their chances of proccing to the unit with the talent.

Yukimura also has slow resist. As well as freeze resist. Which is nice because it allows him to keep nuking. Those talents really shine on him because hes meant to be fast and frontloaded. So u can see a difference when he breaks out of it sooner. The problem is with other cats where when they break out of freeze or slow sooner it doesnt really matter because maybe they're range so they dont bother moving anyways and might be refroze. Or they have low movement speed so no value of them sitting for a little is loss espcially on spammable units
