It's a long one, yes, but there's a lot of information to cover. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

The Sierra Nevada and Almeria are my favourite place to ride in Spain....epic scenery everywhere. Great vid thanks for uploading.

Hi Chrus600 Thanks for the nice post. Just picked up on this. I love it and for all the reasons you have mentioned. Andalusia is incredible. My advice to anyone who has not savoured the delights of biking in Spain. Just go there on holiday and as a little "trial" rent a bike from one of the many rental outlets available. Take suitable kit for very warm weather. Don't be tempted to go down the T shirt route though. You will have a ball.

We're just heading to Andalusia soon to stay for a length of time and ride as many roads as we can....especially the Sierra Nevada, it's gorgeous.

Me and two friends went from Switzerland to Spain last summer. By far the most place to ride. Maybe the scenery is better in Switzerland, Andorra or even some parts of France, but Spain left us with such a huge smile on our faces... Especially, N260 and GI682

Came across this while I’m planning my own Spanish circumnavigation using as many twisties as possible. I have the Gaucin to Ronda road (the one you were on?) on the route and can say your vid has really got me looking forward to next May. Nice front and back aspects and nice commentary. Thanks for taking the time and posting.

It does make the journey a bit more of an accomplishment to be fair! If you can afford the time I'd spend some time off the toll roads to experience some rural France, and Bordeaux's a nice city.

Looks like really fantastic scenery! And the difference in picture quality between the Drift and the GoPro is very noticeable!

Chrus600 Colours are much more vibrant too! Are you thinking of putting the GoPro on your helmet or will you stick with the more streamlined Drift?
@Chrus600

lalex954 I'm keeping the Drift on there for now, I might stick a mount on my helmet for pure riding videos. The Drift is a much better option as a helmet camera, plus I have the mic for it.

Southern Spain is probably the closest we get to America's west in terms of riding and scenery. Really want to do a loop around the Iberian peninsula but I'm not sure if I want to do on the Duke. But damn there's great riding on the doorstep off the Rock!
@Chrus600
@Chrus600 10 жыл бұрын
It's definitely like a mini Nevada in a lot of places, except with far more twisty roads. I'm planning on doing that loop sometime next year and my XJ6 is proving itself perfectly suited to riding in Spain.
@Finnoctane

Pretty apt description! The best part is how little traffic there is compared to southern England where you really have to go out of your way to find road where you aren't stuck behind a horse box for 10 miles! Will give you a shout if I'm down that way for you to spill the beans on your secret roads :D

Thanks for the guided tour, think my brother is planning a Portugal trip, another one of those places where the roads & scenery are supposed to be amazing. Think you said you rode a Diversion, what year, am currently rebuilding a 1992 version?
@Chrus600

've just come back from a short trip to Portugal and thought it was ace so no doubt he'll have a tonne of fun. I ride the new Diversion, a 2011 model to be exact, it's perfect as a budget tourer.

Much of northern and central France is flat and obviously once had lots of Romans living there: the roads are long and very, very straight. South of Limoges though there are some exceptional bike riding roads and views. You went down via Bordeaux and the west coast which, riding wise, is as boring a route as it gets.
@Chrus600
@Chrus600 10 жыл бұрын
Tell me about it, it's a route I want to avoid next time. The Pyrenees, the Alps and what's in between is definitely awesome though.

One question, do I really need an ECE approved helmet for Spain? I have DOT and SNELL
@Chrus600
@Chrus600 6 жыл бұрын
Technically yes, being under the EU law for it. As with a lot of dodgy things bikers might do, you're only potentially going to get busted for it if you've been caught doing something else. I've never heard of bikers being pulled over for this rule in Spain, but a foreign plate, especially one from outside of the EU, could spark some police interest, but I'd say it's very unlikely.
4 жыл бұрын
@@Chrus600 i can confirm, even do you are supposed to have a ECE Approved helmet and ECE approved gloves, no one really check it, unless you crash then our ensurance will probably dont pay for that beacause it wasnt ece approved. However, if you plan to come this year i suggest having at least ECE approved gloves, has the law has change recently in that matter and police probably will check from time to time these few first years to make sure people do change to propper "legal" gear. Other than that, its ok to have no ECE approved gear (jacket, pants, boots, not mandatory yet, which is isane, but...). If you come, have a nice time here, and drink many water, is very hot sometimes, specially on the south, and be safe :)

@@Chrus600 yeah that's a good argument which I counter by the heightened risk of coming off in the first place due to impaired visibility. A chacun son choix !
