I am truly happy to learn this. My best friend in middle school was Gulbar Khan. They were refugees from Afghanistan. It's a tough life up there in the Himalayan mountain ranges. The Afghan is a person of strength and integrity, and discipline; and a bit naughty as my friend :-D

The Taliban was a purely Afghan movement that emerged after the chaos and civil war that ravaged Afghanistan. It arose in response to the various mujahideen factions who were responsible for the instability following the collapse of the Najibullah government. These factions were often aligned with foreign security services, particularly those of Western countries, indirectly through Pakistan. However, the emergence of the Taliban represented a significant ray of hope for Afghanistan, as its people eagerly awaited the promise of security and justice it purported to bring. The movement garnered widespread support from various segments of society. The Taliban, compared to partisans, were more independent and tried to make their own decisions. However, Pakistan, as usual, attempted to exert control over the Taliban. It was the first country to recognize them and offer support. But, as we know, Pakistan itself is not independent and represents different countries' interests, playing a very dirty game. This Taliban policy was not in the interest of Western countries for the long term. It orchestrated the September 11 scenario, resulting in a 20-year war in Afghanistan, which has finally ended where it began.
