​@@fatherkaido I'd say it's definitely a more personal motive. It's very abusive and narcissistic: Sabertooth is jealous that Wolverine is a good man, so he tries to bring him down to his level. The alternative would, of course, be to try to contain himself and improve, but that's difficult and would mean facing everything he's done without hiding behind his mutation as a shield. Wolverine takes responsibility for his actions, Sabertooth does not. It's Sabertooth's own self-loathing that causes him to torture Wolverine. Misery loves company.

When you put it like that, it certainly helps paint a more vivid picture of Sabertooth, one that further removes him from the idea of being a one-dimensional character, which I think is great. And makes a lot of sense as well, all things considered.

@fatherkaido to be honest it felt right for Sabertooth, guy embraces who he is and that's a savage beast, his original family saw him as a freak and tried to cage him, so he killed them (mightve been another reason but his dad pulling out his sharp teeth over and over damn sure didn't help) then when he comes across Logan he doesn't just see a kindred spirit but rather a new little brother whose just like him except Wolverine doesn't give in to his savage nature which makes Sabertooth all the more eager to keep pushing his buttons till he gets what he wants, "play time" and for Sabertooth that makes so much sense and goes with his character because he's just a savage beast who enjoys tormenting his prey and having someone to mess with

He is clearly a psychopath and the extent of the mental gymnastics people like him do to normalize their abnormal thoughts and behaviors is clearly off the charts. But getting back to what you were saying, yeah, I completely agree, that "playing like brothers" dynamic is fantastic, however I feel like they are not mutually exclusive. Like the events of Origin II can be the catalyst of their relationship and then that's the way it develops and grows, right?

Basically, yeah. At least in this version of the story, this would be the "original sin" of Wolverine.

It's more complicated then that Victor in that storyline,was a horrible brother he bullied and tormented his brother their whole lives,so when wolverine killed him sabertooth decided to replace his dead brother with Logan and makes it his mission in life to make wolverine suffer, and one of the ways he does that is by beating Logan up every year on his birthday exactly like how he use to do with his brother.

This is very interesting, I am really looking to reading Sabretooth's Origin and making a video on that, as well! I started it but never finished it a few years back, and now I think that it's going to tie in nicely to this one!

At the same time, if you think about it, this is Wolverine before Weapon X, before adamantium, before any training or real fighting experience against people or really knowing what to expect. i'm not saying it is highly probable it would go down that way necessarily, but it's not that big of a strecth either, it's at least plausible, which is all the writers needed to make the story work, right? 😁

I kind of agree on the Liev Schreiber bit, I liked him a lot as Sabertooth, but as you said, some things did not work out as smoothly as his performance did.

The thing with war though is that at least one side will be unhappy with the result, which will only prompt more violence to result in the future. It's a neverending bitter cycle of despair and futile conflict.

This is a really good point! And I think I might've just gotten inspired to make a video on it. Because this is something I've been thinking a lot a bout recently, like you, as an adult, as I'm going through the Civil War I arc. And even though I think the point is to make you, the reader, be against the Registration Act, I strongly feel that it is partly the right thing to do. Hmm, that's a tricky question. As far as I know there's nothing chronologically set in between Origin II and the next comic which is Logan: Path of the Warlord (1996). Then we get Logan: Shadow Society (1997) and after that we jump into Marvel Comics Presents #72 which is the Weapon X saga involving Wolverine. There's bits and pieces of memories he gets back after House of M in the Wolverine and Wolverine: Origins comics, but those mainly take place in the future so it's just to sort of fill in the gaps a bit.
