The strike in 2007-08 was a WGA (Writer's Guild of America) strike. One of the reasons anyone gets paid for "internet stuff" in the unions is a result of that strike. The SAG-AFTRA last went on strike in 1980 to get residuals (payments based on viewings on movies on TV, or TV shows in syndication) for pay TV (i.e. cable) and for the then nascent rental and home video markets.

Actually the last strike was in 2016 I forgot to mention that. In 2008 it was more of a solidarity which I should have mentioned

@satireskeptic6787 No, no, it wasn't. I live in CA, and I'd've heard of a SAG-AFTRA strike in 2016. Did they have a contract negotiation then? Nope, it was in 2017. Could there have been a union strike of some sort, then? Sure. But it wasn't IATSE, SDG, WGA, SAG-AFTRA, or the teamsters... all the *big* names in Hollywood unions. Don't want to believe me?
