what I'm really excited about with this mod is the patch with the Vigilant mod, having serana kill molag ball with the bard dagger is exactly the kind of dramatic irony I'm waiting for, it feel like the logical end to her character arc

I'm also of the "adventuring party" bent, and prefer the group feeling to solo RPGs. I particularly like using SDA with Inigo, Lucien, Viljia, Auri, and IDF-Lydia (with all of the relevant patches) since most of those followers have various levels of banter with each other, and it really gives me the "Dragon Age: Origins/D&D Party" vibe I prefer. You can do this with some newer follower mods too, like Remial, Xelzaz, and Redcap, I just like the writing for the older followers more personally.

It's a cool mod and the voice actor does a good job, In my opinion however it screws with my head that it's not Laura Bailey. I've been hearing this woman's voice in video games since I was in junior high between Rayne in ..Well Bloodrayne, Kait from Gears, and several others. That's just me though

I love SDA but I personally prefer Improved Follower Dialogue - Lydia. With that mod, Lydia is my favourite follower in modded Skyrim. While SDA has more content, I personally feel like Lydia is better written. My main problem is how Serana falls head over heels for you immediately while you actually have to prove yourself to Lydia who is a bit skeptical about your feats. While it may seem like her character progresses too fast too, going on a few sidequests and not immediately skipping to the main quests makes her character more interesting. But SDA will always have a place in my heart and my load order which it will nver leave.

The second I found this mod on Xbox I fell in love, well fell in love again, before I played Dawnguard for the first time about 5 or 6 years ago I basically never touched any of the companions in Skyrim, I preferred just being a solo character that was self reliant, but when I was able to have Serana as a companion, she definitely felt different than say Cosnach, Lydia or Jenassa, she had depth to her as a character that wasn't there with any other companion, she was amazing. This mod is easily a 100/10, the VA's voice is beautiful and the quality of the voice work is impeccable too, I found a visual overhaul mod for Serana called "Anima Nera - Serkethetyt's Serana Overhaul" that gave her such a good compliment to the mod (In my opinion at least), with a small little detail of having a facial scar that the mod implies is thanks to Molag Bal, giving a hint that what Molag Bal wasn't only mental, but physical. I wish I saw this video sooner, but KZfaq seems to have given quite a few people this video to see via recommended.

I still regret always playing through the DLCs after the main quest when I played Skyrim. I missed out on so much dialogue with Serena because she joined me so late.

As impressive as SDA is on paper it didn't really resonate with me in-game. Just don't seem like Serana but someone headcanon of what they wanted Serana to be. Vanilla Serana barely open up and is recluse, SDA makes her into the opposite and for me that's not Serana. It's not an expansion to her character but a complete overhaul.

Hard agree. If it was any other vampire or original character follower, it would be great But at it's fundamental core, the characterization goes in the complete opposite direction of who Serana is as we see through the Dawnguard DLC. I just can't reconcile that, and unfortunately, I can't enjoy the mod--no matter how many times I reinstall and give it a shot

I do like this mod, though I'm so used to the original voice actor that Serana sounds like she went from a mature woman to a seductive young woman, which is fine but JUST noticeable.

I have to agree in that the house of horrors quest is masterfully directed and becomes an entirely different beast with this mod. I was roleplaying as a paladin, since the game doesn't provide enough avenues to role play properly, I had to make my own fun with a set of self imposed rules. On this one, the paladin was a follower of Miridia, so the rules where. Never to kill an innocent, never work for other deadra, never ignore the undead and hunt them down there where I found them. With all this, when I did this quest with Serana I was trying to find a way to not kill the follower of stendar. I was blocking, parrying, dodging. And during all this I was hearing her screams. I didn't struggle for very long, I made a choice. And as penance I forsake that character from using weapons again.

I have yet to play my game with this Serana mod installed but I will soon. Btw for anyone wanting to see better stories in Skyrim, I recommend installing the Vigilant quest mod. Its a quest mod related to Molag Bal and the Alessian Order, extremely well written and lore friendly. Honestly it puts Bethesda writing to shame. Also Serana SDA next update will give her content related to Vigilant, and knowing how the story in Vigilant goes, anyone who is a Serana fan and uses SDA will definitely enjoy playing through Vigilant with her, I am sure.

Since seeing the title of this video I was dreading it features Neural Network voices. Glad to be proven wrong. And I'm glad that somebody did Serana justice. Compared to other companions in vanilla Skyrim (to be after Lydia I stopped trying, but I heard there is at least one fan favorite) Serana was a breath of fresh... dusty, tomb.. air. Well, DLC made her much more interesting than most of the main story characters combined. But on my subsequent playthrough I realized how much is she lacking as a regular companion outside the context of seeing her in this DLC for the first time. I grew to despise her just as she despises Skyrim's weather. And caves. Outdoors. Nights, days. After the main storyline ends she goes back to being a soulless husk that is Skyrim companion NPC. Serana was a great Dawnguard main plot character, but she is only marginally better than your average Skyrim companion character and that fail is on Bethesda. Their games usually don't end when the story ends and they didn't design their companions well enough to be around them all the time. There is little voiced dialogue and not a lot of companion writing in Baldur's Gate 2 all in all, but the voice talent and direction is so good, their response "barks" become their characterization over the course the game. You hear them over and over again, but you don't grow to despise them, they become part of your long term memory over one or two or several long playthroughs. If somebody did Serana right, it sounds awesome! Not that I can stand the dullness of Skyrim gameplay anymore.

You've made a strategic mistake by putting "Sera was never" in the background. I was seriously considering downloading this mod before I start the Dawnguard DLC in my current playthrough of Skyrim, but alas, now I HAVE to spend 200 more hours in DAI. This is your fault!😅

I might be in the minority here, but I'm not a big fan of the SDA mod. I love Kirsten Unger's voice acting, just not how Serana was written. In some ways, she's worse than the OG version with Laura Bailey. She develops a really weird romantic obsession with the Dragonborn character (which is the main appeal of the mod, let's be honest) in a really inauthentic way. I found her desperation to be kinda icky tbh. It seems that they took the original version and made her into a "vampire wifu with daddy issues" archetype. It almost feels like a mockery of the original version, it's frankly embarrassing. However, I do appreciate some of the additonal dialogue outside of the Dawngaurd quest. Overall, I think the modders did a decent job at fleshing out her character more, but some parts of her character (particularly the romance) were a bit forced. I feel that they could have introduced the romance option until after Dawngaurd quest was completed, as this would feel more natural compared to "hey let's forget about saving the world for a minute and fuck at this sacred glade because I'm horny." Just gross.

What a wonderful video! In truth, I almost wish Skyrim was a bit smaller, so this sort of thing could have been the norm in the actual game. I'd take a smaller game, if the world itself felt more involved and the characters were more dynamic.

I switch up secondary follower mods from time to time but sda has a permanent spot on the load order.

My only real gripe is the pacing of the romance, it feels far to fast and I’m a fan of slow burn romances.

The narrative dissonance of walking into sad and desolate Soul Cairn and having her confess to you is a bit off though. I'd rather that forced dialogue be moved somewhere after you get out of there, like in her mother's laboratory.

Good video, but i have to ask: Why SDA instead of any of the other follower mods available on the Nexus? Is it just because it's Serana? Also, if you haven't tried the others, you definitely should. For example, SDA and Auri have conversations, and theres plenty others that'll talk to eachother.

Amorous Adventures quest totally disable for Serana. Depends of version AA it will be automatically or needs to download a patch.

I downloaded SDA because my vanilla Serana kept bugging out after the Dawnguard storyline and wouldn’t follow me out of Fort Dawnguard. If Bethesda didn’t want her to wind up being my spouse, they shoulda fixed more of their bugs…

Shes the best vanilla follower as far as dialogue etc.... but inigo,gore, sachil etc... are all better imo. She talks about being a alchemist alot of stuff doesn't fit the darker nature if the family.

Really glad to see this mod getting some love! It was literally one of the top reasons why I decided to buy Skyrim on Steam so I could get into playing with mods, because I was so excited that someone expanded on Serana's character in such an interesting way. After playing the mod and romancing her, I was not disappointed. I do get some of the valid criticisms, but at the end of the day I think the writer and voice actor did justice to one of the most (if not THE most) compelling characters in Skyrim.

I don't know....this version of Serana sounds a bit stilted and unnatural. Like the voice actor is pushing herself to speak in a certain way this is unnatural to her. It might be the dialogue itself, it looks like it was written more to be read, rather than spoken out loud.

I dislike this mod so much. I am a Fan of the character Serana that we are first introduced to in the game, (not talking about looks, mods for body model changes don't bother me much its the character personality I like and their voice) voiced by Laura Bailey. That Serana as portrayed in the game is not some naive lustful female which is what this mod makes her out to be. This mod is fine if you are using lovers lab mods and really don't care about the character of Serana. I use LL mods for some of my characters and with females that don't have a great deal of backstory about them, like Aela or Lydia for example. For my male Nord warrior that selects Serana, even with the LL mods, her acting completely out of character where one minute she is behaving one way then next minute she is acting so different breaks the immersion, especially since out of character I know Serana doesn't act anything like that. With other not so fleshed out characters like Lydia for example, I could fantasize that cause they never put much into her characters personality to say how'd she'd be on a number of things. With Serana the line she gives you about a vampire girl very early in the Dawnguard storyline an as you learn more about her later as you speak with her, it is easy to learn that she is not like that. This mod makes her out to be more like a teenage girl starving for sex. I saw this mod when it came out real early where it only added dialogue on top of Laura Bailey's original Dialogue, and then the mod really did a great injustice by completely removing Laura Bailey's dialogue all together by replacing all Serana's voice dialogue to match that of the actress that plays her for this mod. No thanks. IF you are a Fan of the original Serana voice acted by Laura bailey with the original characters personality then you will want to avoid this mod cause it completely changes Serana. You will know this if you have played the Dawnguard DLC as much as I have. However, If you are bored of Dawnguard and Serana and looking to make them into something completely new then I guess this is a mod for you.

no, serana's original voice actress is laura bailey, at timestamp 4:29 the new VA is credited. Grey delisle griffin does azula from atla.

I really enjoyed this fresh take on Serana's character, and the Dawnguard adventures! After that, Serana became a little clingy for my taste though. Someone who was funny and mysterious is now desperately fawning over me, asking daily if I remember the two things we've done together. Serana is not real, but my guilt is. Go platonic unless you want to pity date Serana, which kills her for me :|
