my plane just crashed because of wooden prop, it exploded 10meters above ground when i hit full throttle and after that it wigled out of the motor shaft and flew away, my carbon cub ss went straight to the ground. There was probably some failure on that prop that i didnt see before. Always properly check your props before flight!!!!!

This exactly brand?

My concern with wood is damaging the plane if the prop strikes the ground on landing. Wood is more stiff than plastic and doesn't break as easily.
@RCnerd743 жыл бұрын
These wooden props don't break easy. If you go down in a way that your prop break you often damage your plane anyways. No matter what prop you use. My reasons for buying wooden props is performance, weight and the look of the prop.

@@RCnerd74 I agree with all that. I fly a tail dragger that sometimes flips over on landing. The plane is always fine but the prop breaks even if it's spinning slowly.

Hi RCnerd74, good video..! I also prefer wood one. Where do you usually buy Xoar propeller? I am looking for size 15x7. Greeting from Baden ;-)

Hi Luis. They seem to be sold out for a while. Try it here: www.der-schweighofer.net/Luftschraube-Xoar-Electric-Beechwood-Prop-15x7-a280800

Thank you for this video, it will be also interesting to see the comparison with Carbon (the wood is better looking)
@RCnerd744 жыл бұрын
Thanks. The reason why I don't use carbon props is just because they are too expensive in my opinion. The Xoar wooden props perform so good... No need for carbon props.

What is the difference between a wooden prop designed for fuel vs electric? Can you use a fuel prop on an electric without modification or issues?
@RCnerd74 Жыл бұрын
A gas engine prop has more material in the hub. This is because a gas engine does not run as smooth as an electric motor. So higher forces in a gas engine prop. You can use it on an electric motor. But it is heavier. So less efficient in comparison to an electric motor prop.

Your comparison is wrong you have an APC electronic motor prop designed to flex!!!
@RCnerd745 жыл бұрын
Why do you think the APC prop is designed to flex? both props are designed for electric planes. Check the following links. If an electric prop should be designed to flex, the xoar should flex too... but it doesn´t... here are the links to both props: rcdude.com/xoar-13x7-beechwood-electric-prop.html www.mikrocontroller.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=532

Are they balanced?

They are way better balanced in comparison to any APC prop i ever used
