One of my favourite albums! So glad we have and have had for 20 years!!!

“Our Prayer” (the choral song during the intro) is rapturously beautiful.

Can't believe it's been that long. Got the CD and DVDs later that year. Before it was puzzle-piecing the old songs and bits which some folks still do. Yeah, I went and got the 2011 box and 2-album also. It's an interesting work overall.

Smiles is an album I haven’t given much time to, but your great review will make me revisit this album & sessions cds dvds etc…I thought it was like the Beatles psychedelic St Peppers album, couldn’t really get into it.. What a great review Edward, thank you!

I’m sorry, but you are abominably incorrect that the 2011 SMILE “is just fragments”. And no, the 2004 isn’t the finished thing. As Darian Sahanaja says, “Look, we did that [2004 version] for a CONCERT. And if I had known that the 2011 Smile Sessions was gonna come out the way that we did the concert, I would have thought it differently.” But anyway, believe me when I tell you, 95% of the original album was completed in 1967!!!!
