Water, water everywhere! Earth is about 70% water, but only about 1% of that is considered accessible for direct human use. These freshwater sources, which are defined by their levels of salinity, are critical for drinking water and crop irrigation as well as providing habitats for freshwater aquatic plants and animals like the largemouth bass. But researchers are noticing a concerning trend - our freshwater is getting saltier. What are the sources? Why does this matter? And what can we do about it?
Join us for a panel discussion with Nicki Bellezza from Fairfax Water, Dr. Stan Grant from Occoquan Monitoring Lab and Michael Nardolilli from Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin as we explore together this salty trend within the Occoquan basin and throughout the region.
