Lucky he didnt. Weirdo would of had his case dismissed for evidence tampering. Even though the guy gave him "consent" to enter the room that doesnt give him the right to search the room. Unless evidence was "in plain sight" which it clearly wasnt when he mentioned he had hid it in the couch cushions. The officer could of detained him until he got a search warrant because as soon as admission of guilt was give. It gave the officer almost unparalleled control over the suspect and his investigation.
