Thanks for sharing! That's super cool. One small note: DualShock 4's polling rate is 250Hz. If gyro aim with it is stuttery, it's probably something to do with the quality of the Bluetooth connection. DualSense gyro and DualShock 4 gyro are very similar to each other.

Yes, I do realize now it was the bluetooth adapter I was using at the time. My current adapter doesn't face the same issue.

honestly, i would love valve to improve the SIAPI and a bunch of its controller interface. and while we're at it. i want a steam controller 2 :(

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks that SIAPI is underutilized. If Valve made it a separate program for the pc, I think controllers on pc would get even better

Do you think at some point Valve will allow PlayStation like buttons on the Steam Deck?

I noticed you had a dualsense in an earlier video but you have since gone back to dualshock 4. Do you prefer the Dualshock 4?
@Moskeeto2 жыл бұрын
No. I have completely switched to the DualSense from the Dualshock 4 ever since I got it.

DirectInput is probably still the best :p but yes, it's not hard to see why SteamInput is much better than Xinput. However it wasn't a good idea from Valve to limit it to games purchased through Steam. It's not going to be a widely accepted standard for PC developers as long as games outside of Steam can't make use of it.
@Alpha-kt4yl2 жыл бұрын
Um, all you really have to do to get it working on non-steam games is to add your game to steam and it will work. I have done it myself for emulators, so it should work fine for you.
@Thornskade2 жыл бұрын
@@Alpha-kt4yl Um, these games and emulators don't understand SteamInput. When you do that Steam will translate to Xinput so you get none of the benefits that I believe were mentioned in this video. DirectInput and SteamInput are better APIs than Xinput but it's the game itself that needs to support DirectInput and/or SteamInput AND actually make use of the features provided with the API.

If DirectInput API is the best, then why is it discontinued? 🤔 In a serious note: I would recommend checking out SDL2's Gamepad API instead (most of Steam Input is powered by SDL2, afterall). In fact: we're slowing seeing Emulators moving/adding SDL2 because they have more functionality (since they added Motion Sensors not too long ago) than their previous methods. Alternatively: Windows.Gaming.Input API, but it's still blatantly designed towards Xbox Controllers in mind.
