According to the book 'Making Michael', Teddy originally intended to give the song "No Diggity" to Michael, but Jimmy Iovine refussed it. I would like to know if this is ture or not. Do you have any information about this?

I never knew any of this info. This is excellent background information, important music history to preserve as well about the iconic Michael Jackson. Too bad Teddy & MJ couldnt link again for History, but we got Another Level by Blackstreet, classic album, as a result, so no complaints from me. Teddy Riley just couldnt miss in that era. I even loved that album he executive produced for Queenpen, who was a dope emcee imo, but never really got a fair shot.

*Actually, the HIStory album did do well in the US. It debuted at #1 on Billboard 200 Albums & R&B Albums chart & has since went 8 times platinum (8 million in sales).* *The singles Scream (platinum), You Are Not Alone (platinum), Earth Song (gold), They Don't Care About Us (gold).*

Well...saying that History did not well in the us there is part of true but not totally. The album went on to s sell 3.5 counted twice as it was a double album and therefore certified 7 Times Platinum... Dangerous was certified 7 Times Platinum in the us but didn't have the negative impact of the allegations...they came AT the end of the commercial career of the album... So History had really to face the consequences of the accusations from day 1 of its release... on top of that, double albums format have rarely done very well in terms of sales... ading to the fact that the History tour didn't show in the us... we can consider that selling 3.5 millions copies only in the US is a success... now where u are right is that the album performed over-expectations in Europe... more than 14 millions copies sold only on that territory... So the question is what would have been the sales in the usa if the allegations never happened and what if Michael only released a single album as previouses ones and toured within the usa... the quality of the History album is indeniable and with all respect due to Teddy with all great things he did in music... his trend mark "jack swing" had reached his limits... and when earing "blood on the dance floor" track u could feel it that no more innovation was expected with that style of music ...who went on to slowly die by the end of the 90's and even drove Teddy to file for bankruptcy... So Mike's move to other producers was the right move...

Teddy Riley did return to produce 6 tracks on the Invincible album which was a good album but not promoted by Sony music
@laurentlieko4017
@laurentlieko4017 9 ай бұрын
@@HalftimeChat Yep indeed but was it a good move ....? I think the problem of invincible (altough there are good tracks on it...) is that there are too many producers on it... it reflects a bit the state of mind of MJ at that time....was he Always still motivated ??? It looks like he was delegating everything he used to do by himself on that album. WE will never Know what would have been the Real public apreciation for that album due to the - lack of promotion - the avenment of internet (the album was linked a month before it's release) - the 9/11 attack ( the World attention was focused on that event) There was a kind of "trafic jam" of producers on that album... so eventough there are some pearls on it... this caused a kind of "loss of artistical direction). Teddy could have been or not on the album would not have changed anything... Rodney was the producer of the moment....

I heard Teddy came in to "finish" mixes for HIStory album but is not credited. I actually can't hear much of this work on the album. I still think HIStory is going in to many directions. Probably the album wit most fillers. There are solid tracks on there, but others that still puzzle me...

Wait so when was Michael going to work on HIStory with Teddy? Because I'm thinking it would've been what early 95 because the album came out that summer. Blackstreet's album had been out less than a year so maybe Blackstreet got to work on their 2nd album shortly after the 1st album dropped. Being the perfectionist Michael was I wouldn't expect him to want to work with Teddy in 95 and release the same material month's later. Also I wouldn't say HIStory did bad in the us what drove a lot of young people such as myself at the time away from buyinh it was the price. As a double album( 2nd disc being a greatest hits) most stores charged $25 for it at the time.

I have a correction for you brotha. I saw the interview where ol dude said MC Hammer came in AFTER MJ was denied but hes wrong. The first Addams Family film came out in 91 just days before Dangerous dropped in November & Hammer was on that film. The 2nd film "Addams Family Values" that came out in 93 is rather what they were trying to get MJ on & Hammer aint on that one nor any big star's song in the film but instead they used the Whoomp There It Is people lol.

It was a good thing Teddy Riley wasn't involved. That's why this project is different from Dangerous. History is almost a concept album and one of his most versatile projects. I love it, lyrically it is one of his best works along with Dangerous and Bad: Earth Song, Scream, Stranger in Moscow, You Are Not Alone, They Don't Care About Us, Little Susie, he used classical music elements in this song and the lyrics are very good. The only bad thing is that you have to be attentive to the accusations and attacks of the press towards MJ in order to better understand the content of the album. But that can be solved with a little research. There are weak tracks like 2 Bad, Childhood and HIStory, the latter I like the first part of the song because of the funky vocals, but then it changes and seems like a different song. Outside of three tracks, in my opinion, it's a great album.

Hey, wait a minute, I don't understand, the allegations didn't start until late 1993 or 1994. The MC Hammer Rap song for the first Addam's Family movie Was released in 1991which is the same year as the Michael Jackson's Dangerous ŵas released. Your timeline is not right.
