Actually, back when Starlin was the only author of Thanos involved stories, his relationship with Death was also Oedipal in nature. The 2013 Thanos origin series was a complete and ill-conceived reboot. It had previously been established by Starlin that Thanos had only seen his mother (Sui-San) ONCE in his entire life, on the day of his birth when she immediately flew into a rage and attempted to murder him. Thanos's father (Mentor) had her confined until she recovered her sanity, but she never did. To protect Thanos from the emotional trauma of having a mother who was clamoring for him to die, he was never allowed to see her or any image of her. Reared without motherly love, Thanos grew up without the ability to show affection or any positive emotion. Thanos was eventually exiled for having made abominable scientific experiments. Thanos soon recruited an army of mercenaries, returned to TItan and bombarded it from space, incidentally killing Sui-San. It was in his exile that Death first made herself visible to him. Beholding her visage, Thanos felt an unfamiliar emotional stirring which he interpreted as "love". Thanos never learned what readers already knew -- that the form Death uses when presenting herself to him, was that of Sui-San. Thus, Thanos's compulsion to serve Death is not that of a suitor pursuing a lover but that of a child seeking the approval of his mother.

I find this idea of Thanos moving on from his toxic relationship with Death to be really interesting. It's a cool way to give him some depth beyond his "world destroying man-baby" characterization. I feel like that has more potential than... whatever they were trying to do with MCU Thanos.

You know, funny thing is that, the classic "Infinity Gauntlet" is basically the combination of the 6 infinity gems with one of the gloves that Thanos was already wearing, so I guess that they called it "The Gauntlet" because it sounds better than "The 6 gems on some random glove already worn by someone".

Love the video Drake great work as always, yes Thanos in the comics often comes off as a love sick puppy but his love for Death is not his entire motivation either. In 1990 Jim Starlin brought Thanos back to life in Silver Surfer vol 3 (#34-#38) in the story arc: Rebirth of Thanos, #35 explores Thanos motivation beyond his love of Death, in the issue Thanos takes the Silver Surfer on a journey throughout space, in order to make the Surfer understand his point of view and a lot of the points and ideas that Thanos was talking about in the Endgame movie showes up in this issue. 😃

I really wish Thanos after stopping his brain from simping just went back to the banging his way across the Galaxy ways at least that's fun and instead of killing his actual children having them just around some on his side some on the heroes side and some that are just around not taking sides or flip flopping around. This is actually when I first heard the word simp. I saw it in a comments section of a Thanos comic on read comic online. I think it was The Infinity War comic. You also forgot that in the comic, he wipes out half of all life. A few months (maybe two, maybe five) after that at least, "simp" became viral and a trendy term.
