✨ about my channel
I will be sharing the ups and downs of life and how to attempt to get through it in one piece. I’ll be sharing realistic life advice, minimalism tips, routines, vlogs, and anything else I think you would benefit from! Life is messy and unpredictable, and learning how to manage these hurdles is the first step to leading a happier and more intentional life. We're all trying our best out here, and I just want to share what is and isn't working for me.
Sending you all my love,
Grace

When you move to New Zealand, you can buy new Zealand shoes in New Zealand that meet your needs. The fewer you have to pack, the less it will cost you, the more money you’ll have to buy exactly what you need when you need it

For your one direction shirts: upcycle them into posters! I had several concert tees I love for the memories that I didn't want to part with but I didn't wear, and now they are cute decor for my wall and I get to look at them every day. There are tutorials on pinterest, but basically all you do is cut out the print and glue or staple it to a canvas. It's nice because it's so easy and you can do both sides if your shirt is double sided too!

It’s always fun to be a bit nosy and see what’s in someone else’s closet haha. I’m still working on my wardrobe as well and found that having a strict number didn’t really work for me either. I like taking the seasonal capsule approach - some common pieces stay year round (t-shirts etc) but then others get put into storage under the bed when it’s not their season. I find it helps keeps things feeling fresh as well when I’m not wearing the exact same outfits year round - it’s fun to pull out the next season’s clothes and feel like I’ve got fresh new options even if it’s the same well-loved pieces as the year before. It’s creating artificial scarcity for myself but in a good way if that makes sense.

Your rambly videos are the absolute best for body doubling!!!! One thing I like about your content is that it isn’t overly curated and “perfect”. You got this. Keep it up.

I am still early on in the video, but have you heard of Project 333? You end up having a 33 item wardrobe (certain items don't count) for a 3 month period test run. Then the next 3 month stint, you analyze and adjust what does and doesn't work. I'm going to be trying it possibly the beginning of April! (But you can start it whenever)

I’m not a minimalist when it comes to clothes, but twice a year (autumn and spring) I go through everything I own when I swap out seasonal summer/winter pieces. I sell or donate the items I don’t use, and evaluate if I need to aquire anything. I live in a similar climate with all four seasons, and I store the seasonal pieces I’m not currently using in boxes at the top-part of the inside of my wardrobe. Everything is in the same place, and that makes me see that I have enough when the urge to buy more comes ❤️

I'm glad you did the shoes! I really struggle with letting go of shoes (even when they don't fit or are absolutely torn apart) haha

Just seeing how much you light up when you’re holding your favorite items shows how nice it can be to have a wardrobe that’s really intentionally curated to your style!

I'm a college student with a teeny tiny wardrobe and I've had not that many clothes (like maybe 25 things) for 2-ish years and I have sooo many thoughts on this topic so SORRY this might be long. The thing that has helped me the MOST to actually get to a point where I don't feel excited by the idea of getting new clothes unless I have thought about it EXTENSIVELY first is repairing my clothes, caring for them carefully (like actually handwashing stuff that says its supposed to be hand washed, line drying stuff for the first time in my life), and essentially getting to know my clothes better because I actually observe them aging and changing as I wear them every week. It's to the point where it frustrates me to have clothes I don't love in my wardrobe, because they are taking up unnecessary time or decision space. And here I will make another important point. As I said I am a college student and I don't have the money (and also I actually don't want to because I know my opinions and style will likely change in the next 10 years!) to own the version of everything I NEED which I might literally "love." So when I say I "love" something, thats not always because I think its the best version of that thing to exist. I have these stupid fucking sweatpants which are baggy as hell and have a random brand name embroidered on them I got for 5 dollars at good will one day bc I needed sweatpants. They're comfy as hell and I can't be bothered to replace them and I love them because I wear them 3 times a week and they keep me warm. Also, because you expressed concerns abt this: I wear mostly lounge clothes and I have random ass clothes (For example purple shit in my college colors) which certainly do not go with a "color scheme." my pants are all gray and black. I am not trying to layer I am trying to rotate between my 4 favorite sweaters and sweatshirts. the advice in typical capsule wardrobe videos is kind of useless to me!!! (watch leena norms and ecofriend lia's videos on capsule wardrobes). If a guideline sounds genuinely useful or exciting to you try it, but honestly the restrictions like color scheme will reveal themselves and analyzing your own experience of your clothes is wayyyyy more useful. clothes are exciting to me BECAUSE I wear them and they make me feel good, not because I OWN them if that makes sense. So if I don't wear something, it kind of stresses me out to own it. When I started thinking of everything I own as something I need to care for and take care of first and foremost (like the cost of an item being the time I spend thinking about it, cleaning it, the space I spend storing it, the responsibility I have to dispose of it or repair it responsibly) having lots of things i don't use has become my worst nightmare.

I really like the Wonder Wardrobe system by Daria Andronescu which focuses on building a fully interchangeable, personal, and sustainable capsule wardrobe. So no specific numbers or items. I bought her course a couple years ago and work on it every season, but you can gain a lot just from watching her videos and understanding the system. Here‘s the gist:
