I have been falling in love with this beautiful language for a few years now, but some things are still a pain in the A$$ for me... I decided to rant a little bit about the things that do not make sense about this language or are too complicated for a foreigner like me.

I am German and this video made me smile a lot. It's just funny to watch. I know German is kind of weird and I would not like to learn it if I wasn't German. However your German is really good. I could understand everything perfectly and I did not have to turn the subtitles on 😉. By the way, I love your videos guys, they are so great made and I am always looking forward to watch them! They always entertain me and make me laught, so thanks for putting so much effort in producing them 😊

Of course, you would. I am a Spanish native speaker and this is my second year learning German (or at least trying to), and even though it is a beautiful language and even though it sounds so nice, it is hard as hell. So, you should be proud of being able to speak it. But anyway, I think I'll keep learning it, it's definitely worth it.

@@JossAndJanik to the first point in english you say: "i have driven" or "i drove" in germany u say "Ich bin gefahren" oder "Ich fuhr" the only difference is in germany you say bin and you say habe: i think "Ich BIN gefahren" is an space filler cuz the actual form is "Ich habe gefahren" the Präteritum is "Ich fuhr" and the Perfekt is "Ich habe(/bin) gefahren" :D to thesecond point when an german doesnt say the verb at the end he wasnt going to school (in germany u say these people are "Assis") or he is not from germany the "hochdeutschsprachiger" human is putting the verb at the end! xD to the third point you say "The man / He had an accident", "The girl / She had an accident" or "The kid / It had an accident" we say"Der Mann / Er hatte einen Unfall" Die Frau / Sie hatte einen Unfall" or "Das Kind / Es hatte einen Unfall" you can use it if you kow which gender the word has tis is what you have to learn and your example was another german thing you also need to learn so that example wasnt good. ?:/ the fourth point: Durchfall and durchfallen are different words in germany but yes many germans dont know that and instinctive use it.... soo nexxxt poinnt! xDD fifth point: good example no clue we say "vorgestern" ("beforeyesterday") and/but "übermorgen" ("overtomorow") i think its again an space filler vorgestern is speaked easily and übermorgen too :)) sixth point: an bahn is historical a train which has (number of wheels x same number of motors) like a train with 16 wheels and 1 motors for each wheel so 16motors has an 16x16 Motor and is called Bahn an Zug has at the front an pulling motor in the middle of the train are just brakes that train is called "Zug" ("Pull") Deutsche Bahn is called bahn i think because you also say Eisenbahn to Bahn or Zug and Deutscher Zug.... that name tho... is really weird to spell ;) last point: its for our eyes so we can immediatly see that this is a noun and yes i have problems with an i dont like it its like... my words are Big or small completely random example: I Really hate to Go to school Because its So boring.... in german my senences are often like this..... sooooooo..... yeah hopefully this comment helps if not and if u dont understand im no hater its just my comment --> good video ;)

it's REALLY simple about when to use "haben" or "sein".... in German present perfect tense you use "sein" in combination with verbs that express a change of state (or movement). And "haben" with all other verbs.... Think of the verb to "throw"! If you are active and throw something, you HAVE thrown something! But if you self have been thrown out of the window, you ARE BEEN thrown out of the window! It'S the same tense! Another example: He IS moved to Germany. vs He HAS destroyed the window. ("IS moved" in German = "has moved" in English, "HAS destroyed" in German = "has destroyed" in English) And btw: THAT'S EXACTLY THE SAME AS IN FRENCH with "etre" and "avoir"! ;-) And about the articles in German... it's the same as in any other latin language l have learned like: Latin, French, some Spanish, more Portuguese.... you MUST learn nouns WITH their articles..... if you learn them withou you get lost! Learn: "das Auto" (the car) instead of just "Auto" (car). Capitalizing nouns does make sense! Even in English they used to do it! Now I give you an example about the advantages: "I am enjoying your (style of) driving." Where is the noun and where is the verb? In German orthograpy it's easy to spot: " I am enjoying your (Style of) Driving." "Driving" is the gerund and as such its purpose is being a noun! ;-) Having realized you have been learning to speak German for three years only.... THAT IS F...ING AMAZING! Well done! Thumbs up! b!

About the first thing: For "Bewegungsverben" (movement verbs), you use "sein". For example: "Ich bin gegangen, du bist gelaufen, er/sie/es ist gerannt, wir sind geflogen, ihr seid gesprungen, sie sind geschwommen". All those verbs have something to do with movement. For everything else you use "haben". It's the same in Italian btw. And I think even in Spanish it's the same too...

Actually, Spanish only uses haber (to have) to talk about the past. Italian and french are the only Romance languages that use both to be and to have to talk about the past. Technically, any verb in both Italian and french can use “to be” to talk about the past when you make the verb a reflex verb, that is when you use myself, yourself, herself, himself, etc... for example in Italian “lei ha fatto un panino” (she made a sandwich), “lei si è fatto un panino” (she made herself a sandwich). In the second example ha (to have) becomes è (to be).

and what about "Ich bin auf dem Stuhl gesessen" or "Ich bin im Bett gelegen" or "Ich bin still gestanden".... There is simply no movement at all Your explaination is simply not accurate.... meaning it´s just a very small view of a much bigger picture.. "bin" simply describes everything which involves you and your whole body as a whole person in being a person.(that sounds complicated I know) .for instance "gehen" is done by your whole body as a whole person and no bodyparts are left behind somewhere...so it refers to you as a whole person in being a person "haben" describes everything which simply doesn´t involve the whole person in being a person...for instance "gucken" is done - just - by the eyes and not your whole body so therefore "haben".."essen" is done just by your mouth..."lernen" is done just by your brain....that all sound a bit complicated but that´s simply how "bin/haben" works...

Yes, it is a funny quote from Mark Twain. Although German is hard, still French is harder than German. French has far more verbal tenses and far more irregular pronunciations. German pronunciations are consistent like Spanish.

@@tabor721 I haven't learnt French, but I must say that German verbs are not as innocent as they seem. Anyway, I also have heard of the infamous declensions and irregularities of French verbs.

@@mimicrono The worst thing with French is its irregular pronunciation. Along with irregularities in French grammar, its irregular pronunciation makes French harder to learn. Just like variations in German, there are also differences in French as well. For example, Quebec French in Canada has differences from French spoken in France.

Imagina a Hitler diciendo Ich bin Deutschland. Ich bin Deutschland (Yo soy Alemania); Ich liege in Deutschland (Yo estoy en Alemania).
