@@susanqtips If you ever read his book "Disloyal" he owes a lot to his wife and family for sticking by him all the years he worked for Trump - they knew Trump was dirty, and they constantly urged Michael to give up on working for Trump. Michael was constantly torn by this, but found all the power of being in the Trump inner circle too addicting. His wake-up came when he found himself sitting in a prison cell wondering why he took the hit for Trump, and Trump got off scott-free. Trump SHOULD fear Michael, because Michael knows where all the bodies are buried. Every last one.

There is nothing illegal there though. It isn't illegal to pay for an NDA. The prosecution needs to prove that the designation of the payments to a lawyer was incorrect because they were not legal fees. Then they must prove that they were intentionally labeled as legal fees to cover up some underlining crime that the prosecution not only did not charge trump with but refuses to disclose what the crime was.

@@a-a-ron772 Have you not been following the case? Falsifying business records is a violation of New York penal law 175.10 . That's the crime. There has been documentary evidence produced that Michale Cohen laid out the money to buy Ms Daniel's silence by way of an NDA to hide information from the public before a presidential election and not declared (campign finance violation). The money was REIMBURSED to Michael cohen via a series of checks signed by Donald Trump to REIMBURSE him for the money laid out. There has been documentary evidence and witness testimony that money paid the Cohen was "grossed up" to cover tax deduction because it wasn't for "legal services" or work done, but money laid out on his behalf. If Trump just paid money to Ms Daniels for an NDA, there would be nothing illegal about it. To reiterate, Michael Cohen went to prison for $280,000 worth of undeclared campaign finance donations ($130,000 & $150,000). Trump reimbursed Cohen for that money through allegedly illegal means.

Mr. Weissmann's point about the trial turning in a whole different direction if Trump testifies hits the nail on the head. Right now, he has no responsibility to prove himself innocent. He didn't bring this case to court. The plaintiff has to prove he is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Once he takes the stand, the only reason to do so would be to prove he is innocent. But there is no story of his innocence to present, just his assertion that he is, and that the prosecutors are bad people who don't like him. That is not a winning tactic if the jury was truly neutral going into the trial. It is an argument that Bart Simpson makes. "Mrs. Crabapple just doesn't like me. That's why she made me stay after school!"

Cross examination is rarely or ever a silver bullet, from my experience. Just because a defendant robs four banks does not mean the defendant robbed the fifth bank. If Cohen sticks to his evidence and it is corroborated by other evidence (which it is) he will be believed by the jury. If Trump is convicted in New York, he will be found guilty by an unanimous jury beyond reasonable doubt. A jury that has sat though all the evidence and heard it first hand. That is how the justice system works. A criminal trial is a very different animal to an election and the guilt or innocence of Trump of the charges he is facing should not and never be determined by the voters in an election.

Not sure parading your witness on international news is doing well for his credibility is the thing. I mean none of this should be blasted on the news, till its actually news. Im definitely not a trump groupie but in the interest of justice all parties to any case should handle their business in the courts. And till a verdict is made. Only report what is happening in said court room. Otherwise it sets up appeal opportunities that should not exist do to prejudices

Clearly not, and you would assume the very experienced DAs office in New York knows this and all the requirements for bringing charges under relevant state legislation. Your statement is one really only proffered by those who don't have sufficient knowledge of indictment and their application to specific crimes.

Bragg assumes the payments were made to hide another crime without the other crime being prosecuted. You really need to look at Due Process in the constitution and use your own brain. We don’t convict people in this country by accusation alone Natasha.

If I was on the jury of this first trial, I would ask the judge if we could find Benedict Donald: Not Guilty by reason of mental incompetence. That way he couldn't fight the verdict and it would stick.

You're throwing around legal terms like you know what they mean. "Probable cause" is for warrants and arrests, nothing to do with trials and convictions. As for the time, most cases, even simple ones take more than a few days. This one has been drawn out longer than normal because Trump's lawyers have challenged every bit of evidence, even the stuff for which there is hard proof. That is why you have a technical expert testifying that the phone records are what they are and someone else testifying about how they compared the signatures on checks to Trumps and proved that they were his signatures. All this is just delaying tactics that sensible lawyers do not do.
