Good and Elite are different. Many of the guys who won AFCON were cult figures but can't be seen as consistently great at least to a global standard. Salah is definitely a cut above.

I went to training back then when I was a kid and the coaches refused to let me do anything because they were waiting for a bribe, they'd just play on their phone and once the tests are done they'd pick kids randomly or the kids they are bribed to take. Egypt is so unbelievably corrupt that you almost can't get anything done without a bribe, even in schools you have to pay teachers for outside of school tutoring or you will fail even if you get a good enough grade, you can't even get a driver license without a bribe. salah was the exception his talent allowed him to play instead of just some random rich kid.

As a Moroccan Egypt has always had amazing players, just because people don't see them on European TV doesn't mean they don't exist. We Moroccans know how tough and talented Egyptian players are, they just don't have the same opportunities
