Neal is a prick but he's so funny. He's the guy that every opposition hates but supporters love. It's actually nice to see someone who feels like they're being genuine on the pitch and in interviews unlike way too many players who just feel like a PR machine whenever they get the chance to let their personality show

It's the media's fault though that players are so beige these days. Any bit of personality shown will get picked apart and likely misconstrued and it usually never ends well for the player. From their pov, it's best to go with the safe generic answers that won't bring any trouble. Hence the "media training."
