Why the UFL Matters... (And Spring Football in General)

This past weekend was supposed to be week one of this version of the XFL’s second season but instead due to the merger with the USFL, we now have to wait until the end of March for Spring Football to kick off. Spring Football, specifically the XFL, has always had a special place in my heart because it is what I started this channel talking about back at the beginning of 2020. One thing I hate to hear from people is that Spring Football is a waste of time or does not matter. Today, I want to talk about why it matters and why you should care.

The spring league is like the FCS version of college football it's fun it's intimate and it's a good deal

I was a Sea Dragons and Breakers fan, now I am a Defenders and Showboats fan until those teams return some year down the road

The Defenders are a fun team to watch and have a great fanbase.

Im almost certain that if/when the league becomes more profitable they will look to expand those teams back into the mix. Seattle especially, was just too far of an isolated location that made it less cost effective to send multiple teams there every week. Most teams are in or near the Texas region, Michigan and DC being the exceptions, which will cut down travel costs and help with the league creating that profitable base for the future.

I’m a big Stallions fan, I have a season ticket for this season and it only cost me $140. Everything g you have said is true, the friends I’ve made from strangers, the excitement and experience is amazing. Since it is so affordable I was able to go to Memphis and Canton last season to watch the Stallions play. I know Birmingham doesn’t have the highest attendance but I’d love to see you there and if so come to section 104. That’s where all us crazy fans sit.

You forgot Brandon Aubrey on the stallions. He played for the cowboys this past season and was playing at a pro bowl level. Also I’m a stallions and battle hawks fan since both leagues started back.

I went to the Packers Falcons game this past year half the stadium was empty and about 80% of the fan base that was there was Packers fans it was a terrible environment

I absolutely love this video because I’m very happy to see the word about spring leagues getting out. That being said, I know you are an XFL fan, but I was disappointed as a fan of a USFL team that the USFL wasn’t talked about more. Also, as a stallion fan… Matt corral is not starting for us. Hate to burst your bubble. 99 times out of 100 he is backing up Jaymar Smith.

I’m sorry about not focusing as much on the usfl. I just wanted to talk more about my personal experience and I have more of a background in the xfl. I know Smith is probably starting bc of the history in the offense I just mentioned the corral stuff bc it shows how people would rather play in a spring league then sit on a practice squad. Hoping to get down to a stallions game this year though!

As far as I'm concerned the NFL doesn't have the umph it used to . With it's limited stars , bad reffing and the kneeling BS along with Cappernacks BS , alot of old school fans aren't fans anymore . The UFL has brought back what the game of football is about without the focus being on a Hollywood hook up (Swift/Kelsey) for better ratings which to me was a DESPERATE reach for fans . Well NFL , good , ya got swifty fans who don't know a gd thing about football . The smart fans are now on board with the UFL . The Colts will always be my favorite NFL team but the Battlehawks have my attention.

3 things I hope they bring back eventually (other than teams): 1. Booze waiting in the locker room for the winning team (bud light seltzer 2020) 2. The XFL kickoff rules 3. On field interviews of players like they did in 2020

For the USFL, I rooted for the Panthers because I'm from Michigan and a Lions fan. For the XFL I rooted for the Brahmas because that's where my grandpa lived. I'll root for both but in a head to head I'm going Panthers all the way.

Seattle could come back in the future. If I had to guess the travel costs and lack of real regional rivalries hurt them. LA and Las Vegas just didn't get behind the XFL in both 2020 and 2022.

The usfl should have never merged they should have stayed independent I loved that league but it is what it is man Spring football can't get here fast enough

The original USFL would have worked if they had just left it in the spring.. it had stars and a following.. They shouldn't have moved it to the fall..

We have enough football talent to support a second league at a lower level of competition at a different time of year. As a football fan I can watch football all year. But I don't really like the NFL anymore so I love the spring league

I know the XFL 2.0 purchased all the AAF equipment after they declared bankruptcy. Helmets, pads, training devices, Kicker's practice net. I don't know if they purchased the trademarks like logos & team names.

I think as the league grows they may try to have northwest expansion. Seattle had a strong fanbase and a Portland/Seattle rivalry could be fun. Though they could look to Eugene as well

@@EmbracetheGrind Portland would be a better spot they were really trying to push for the raider in Portland I know they also want an MLB team as well. I hope they make a team in Portland that would be nice
