I find it absolutely hilarious nobody in the south stopped to think about the size of the wall in reference to why it was built. No one believes the white walkers even existed but at least something does. Whatever it is, it scared the first men at the time so shitless that they spent all the effort, time, resources and manpower to built the unbelievably largest standing structure on the continent from coast to coast. Then erect massive defenses northward garrisoned with a dedicated army. All in an area of the continent that for all intensive purposes should be barren tundra in the middle of nowhere.

@@CMAzeriah It's just like the pyramids of Egypt, or Stonehenge etc. There are modern accepted theories on why and what they were but it was so long ago nobody knows for sure. The story of Jesus and Moses and great floods have fallen into legend. But yes, a wall THAT powerful just to keep out tribes with sticks? Lord Mormont says the same thing. Unfortunately everyone in King's Landing were so busy with their own struggles for power that they were oblivious to the Walkers and Daenerys, 2 apocalypse-level threats, waiting at the borders.

Assuming it's real, it stands to reason that he didn't blow the horn because he didn't want the wall to come down. The point of walls is to seperate or protect one group from another group, which means Mance only wamted to be on the right side of the wall still perfectly intact when Others and the whytes arrive. Seems rather obvious imo.

Tbh the horns won't work like they think they do. A simple horn just being made to tear the main defense against the WW is dumb, and so is a horn being made thay can control dragons with a simple blow. It would be a big security risk, and if it did it would make sense for the hirn to be like a horn to break enchantments.

@@za1du A separate issue still stands though, Dany is not a typical dragon rider even for Old Valyria. She's the Mother of Dragons, birthing her eggs was a completely unique and miraculous event. Who's to say the Horn will even work on her dragons, or if it'll have an entirely different effect.

There would be no way of him knowing...well, unless he's got greensight (which is probable). But no one really talked about the horn, it didn't look like anything special. Which is why it's most likely the one to bring down the wall.

The Warlocks in Qarth did the same, and I think it was implied that they could see events similar to greenseers. That would make sense about some other things. Like why didn't he take the horn straight to Meereen and have his crew blow it from the bay? Why did he need the Iron Fleet to be in Meereen if he could magically bind the dragons already? And why is a Faceless Man infiltrating the maesters at the same time the other horn is in Oldtown and right before Euron is about to invade it?

There is a theory that the horn themselves don't work like they claim it does. Mainly because who would make a horn like that? The horn if Winter maybe, but a dragon horn??? Why would the Valyrians make a horn that can be so easily stolen and turn any of their dragons to whoever possesses it? The faceless men would do everything they can to grab one or any other enemies of Valyria. Let alone that Euron has no evidence to come to his conclusion at all

I think mance rayder did not use it cuz he knows that no one will be safe if the wall is destroyed. He was a crow after all. So he wants to be safe South of the wall and wants to ensure that there is the wall between him and the white walkers.

Didn’t tormund say that the horn was a dud in ADWD? My bet is the real horn is the one Sam has, that they found at the fist of the first men. It didn’t break the wall when they tried to blow it, but then again moqorro said that blowing the dragon horn doesn’t bind a dragon to you. Perhaps these two horns are related in some way

Perhaps they are the same Horn, and Old Valyria stole it from the North when they began their expansion to Westeros. A BIG stretch, but come on, two different horns, one fire and one ice, there's NO WAY they aren't related. Whilst i do believe Old Valyria kept away from Westeros because they feared the magic of the forest, and the skinchangers threat to their dragons (more so than the Lannister Gold Prophecy), what reason would they have to steal this Horn and keep it from Westeros?? (I'm genuinely asking here i wanna hear the ideas)

Why would readers even think the story about a horn that makes the wall fall down is real to begin with. Like somehow a real horn was made and has lasted 8k years? It's an in universe fairy tale, just like the holy grail or philosophers stone in our world.

Manse isn’t burned in the books. What are you reading? The “Manse” that is burned is Rattleshirt glamoured by Melisandre…. Then Manse spars with Jon, chooses a great sword (it felt so good and familiar in his hands, it had been a long time). He then proceeds to absolutely own Jon toys with him and barely breaks a sweat doing so. Then he heads to Winterfell and starts murdering the Bolton host.

I don't believe either horn in the story are what they are claimed to be I especially hope dragonbinder is just a warhorn I can't think of anything worse than ironborn controlling dragons. The whitewater winning is better than iron born w dragons

Spoiler alerts the entire GOT SERIES is written through the eyes of a future sam whos a grand Master thats why the option of john is high. Hes recounting the story as hes writing it down. I asked Martin n this is what he said i signed a NDA if you tell him this hell sue me
