I like her attitude. No hard feelings bring not able to get PR at the moment and still act positively and willing to contribute to society in whatever she can. Such a motivating person and I can sense she walk her talk absolutely.

@@heidi-hu1tv sorry you felt that way. It’s not confined to Indians only. Generally, workmen are being transport in trucks to and fro jobsites. Due to our unique policies in vehicles ownership, businesses tends to utilise this mode of transport. A lot of regulations and safety practices are put in place to ensure that these workmen travel safely. Of course we do hope the day will come where workmen need not travel in this way.

Ultimately, I believe that 'trendy' jobs such as leadership coach, 'life coach', and so on are very low on ICA's ladder of priority. ICA probably sees such jobs as fairly trivial compared to nurses, software engineers, etc. Every year there is a new industry that is 'in-demand' and leadership coaches are never one of them- it's not going to be easy getting PR these days as a leadership coach. Best of luck to her though!

@hieveryone2003 yeah, generally the well to do ones can set up their own businesses and sponsor their own EP. Some even open family offices and sponsor their EP that way. As long as they follow the law and pay tax, government will allow

Leadership development and building soft skills is very important in this day and age. Though giving PR is a bit of different story- is the person ready to demonstrate their roots are in SG and to show it’s more than a place of convenience and low taxes.

Riding bicycle 🚲 👁️👁️👁️ must see Infront so we step the wheel 🎡 and enjoying the scenery. You won't felling down if you know the way to riding. I meet a girl she said she knows how to driving car car 🚗 but until now she don't know how to riding a 🚲 bike. I teach her the skills already wishes she can riding now. When I young my father teaching me many times I also can not riding the bicycle 🚲 he give up hope on me. But I never give up myself and learning my own (my father already at heaven seeing us) and the moment I can riding the bicycle 🚲 I feeling so proud 🦚 of myself. Never give up. Jie u❤❤❤😂

Yes, it's true... we all make mistakes however it's whether we learn from our mistakes & move on to better ourselves, or do we keep on beating ourselves up. I used to teach, and I encouraged my students to try, nevermind if they succeeded or failed at the attempt. I always reminded them that no one was born and could immediately stand-up & walk.

Brenda is amazing. Just to add a little on your question to her on "mistake". If you did something wrong, realize it and learn from it, if possible rectify it, it is never a mistake but a "Learning experience". On the other hand, if you repeat the same wrong thing, regardless, you realize it or not, it is a "Bad habit". Brenda, is absolutely right, there is not mistake except use in apologies, like, if my comments here offend anyone, I am sorry... 😅😅😅

Drivers in SG come from many nationalities who converted their licences to SG licence.Becareful when you're in Malaysia because the drivers there disregard Zebra Crossing.

Drivers in Korea also disregard zebra crossing. The right of way lies with the driver, don't be in a rush to cross the road overseas. In sg, best to believe that drivers have the right of way on zebra crossings especially for minor road leading to major road.

I'm local and lived in a western society before. We seem to treat diversity quite differently. In the west, oh we are all Americans / Australians etc. We don't need to mention our different races. But the divide is deep and certain areas are clearly dominated by certain races. Here, we acknowledge our fundamental differences first. We pick up our mother tongue as 2nd language in school. We learn about our neighbours and classmates' eating habits. Then we try to find a common ground.

PR in Singapore is getting harder and harder to get. Criteria will change from time to time, currently Singapore needs doctor,nurses, AI specialist, scientists,cyber security experts.well if you are not in these categories you will be on long waiting list . Unless you are a company owner here,life coaches so many out there on waiting lists.

Unfortunately you need some kind of tangible hard skill or be very wealthy. I’m a U.S. engineer, and worked in Singapore for 6 years, I could have gotten PR because of my skillset and I had/have income coming in that is independent of Singapore which is a huge plus as they want to make sure you’re not a burden on their society, but I chose not to since my wife is Japanese & she wanted to go back to Japan which I wasn’t complaining about. But my advice to anyone in general, if you’re going to go to a university, atleast get something out of it, money makes the world go round & skills pays the bills, I’m not saying it’s impossible but you’re more likely to get PR if you’re a scientist, banker/financier, engineer or Doctor, than you are someone who has a liberal arts degree or nothing tangible to demonstrate that the country could seriously benefit from. Im sorry but “leadership” isn’t a critical skillset, if she has a pension however, she can leverage that as justification that she doesn’t have to depend on any of the countries social programs.

Motorists known they have to stop when they're turning right in traffic lights if there are pedestrians crossing, sadly most motorists are dreaming now a day, therefore, pedestrians must very alert when crossing be it in zebra crossing.. must look at the driver, if he's looking straight at the road and the car seems not slowing down, means that he is not paying attention. You can giving him a middle finger, usually the the motorist don't there to confront u, cos they know to they are wrong.

A question for Brenda, for her anecdote about her newly appointed CEO client who didn't feel confident in herself, why was the affirmation "I am learning to be a great CEO" rather than "I am (already) a great CEO"?

I'm thinkin if it could be that with learnin to be somethin, you're in it with an open mind ie. to listen and gain as much knowledge as one can. Whereas with "I (already) am something", the mindset is that I already have that knowledge and hence might be less inclined to listen, learn and improve... But this is just my two cents, & I'm no life coach... 😅 Would love to hear it from Brenda herself!

@@StArLiTe5691 Hmm upon coming back to the question, I now think it might be because "I am learning" sounds and feels more believable than "I am already a great CEO". So your brain will be more likely to accept it. Like if you're broke and affirm "I'm rich!" you'll instantly feel like you're deluding yourself, but if you say "I'm learning to be rich!" it feels a lot more believable.

in the past, migrants like her are not on Singapore's top radar but not so in 2024, all the hi-tech migrants cannot put the humpy dumpy they built together when it breaks due to too much mental and spiritual stress inherent in a hi-tech society, we need people who can handle personal and corporate stress and mental issues. it is not easy because i have noticed that lots of such younger workers got themselves wounded because it is hard to isolate themselves from the students or patients. very likely a tough "old lady" can survive this. i.e. someone old enough with the maturity like a grandmother. what most that people do not know is that many young people are killing themselves due to too much expectation and not enough right kind of affirmation

I know views will differ on this issue, but I for one find your permanent closed captions distracting and annoying. Your interlocutors almost universally have good clear standard English language skills, and I have never struggled to understand their spoken word. Moreover, your sound quality is great (something some KZfaqrs struggle with). If ever I may need closed captions I can turn them on myself. Please consider not using permanent closed captions. Ta 🙂

Really agree with her comment about how thoughts become beliefs and how society/parents/media influence those beliefs. I'm a Singaporean who has been living in the US for a long time. I still remember growing up in Singapore and being very influenced by social status, class, material things, etc. It was so engrained in society there and even affected young children. I have a memory being in Primary school in Singapore and hearing kids waiting for their parents to pick them up making comments such as "I wonder which car my Dad is going to pick me up in today". I don't think kids should be affected by such things. I haven't lived in Singapore for almost 20 years and I wonder if such a culture still exists.

I understand that in the West, motorists are expected to give way to pedestrians. Generally, Singaporeans are taught from young that if you have to cross the road when there are no controlled pedestrian crossings; be it traffic lights or zebra crossings, motorists have priority. Ensure that there are no approaching vehicles before crossing. Reason for that is that the driver might be looking out for other vehicles and might not notice pedestrians. Also, vehicles are more noticeable as they are bigger, and pedestrians are less noticeable as they are smaller. In theory, when a car hits a pedestrian, more often than not, the driver is in a wrong unless there is no way he can stop in time. So even if a vehicle stops at an uncontrolled intersection to give way to vehicles on the major road, most Singaporeanswill walk behind the vehicle to cross the junction unless the driver waves to the pedestrian to cross first with an "after you" signal.

Not being able to get PR is the only reason why I could never "live" in another country. I'd never feel like I was home, being afraid that the next Visa renewal could be my last. And what happens when/if I get too old to renew my visa by myself? I wouldn't want to be 80 etc and be forced to pack up and move 'somewhere'. I just don't have that Gypsy spirit.

My wife's Vietnamese manicurist and her husband got PR after 3 years. My guess is SG gov spreads the PR across the entire spectrum of the social ladder. I think Singaporeans will feel resentful if there is a feeling of all foreigners are rich, instead of they are just like us. Maybe there is simply too many applicants in her social clads and she hasn't shown enough to build roots here.
