I live in Thailand for $1,000 per month. I have a driver every time I get on a tuk tuk. I have a cook at every Restaurant I go to. I visit my gardeners at the public market. They grow my food. I have a house keeper who cleans my room once a week. I also have my own boat. I actually got it from my son. I play with it every time I go to the pool. 😂😂😂

Great video Adam and also a clear and concise explanation as to the purpose of your channel. I'm spending more and more time in Thailand and happen to agree with Marc on many of his views. I like Koh Samui and have compared it for example to a life on Hawaii where I had purchased a second home quite a few years ago. There are many similarities in that they go head to head on beauty, nature, and a nice clean living environment I feel that Samui offers many advantages both culturally and economically over Hawaii. Happy to discuss this in more detail any time .

Top notch video. So amazing to hear your IDENTICAL voice to Chris!! You guys have cool voices. I love hearing, or seeing in this case, stories of folk that have 'made it through effort. Good luck to him and kudos that he sees the need to spend time unwinding and slowing down. * I think he is incorrect though on that there is no capitol gains tax in Thailand, I'm fairly certain that it is payable as an add-on to your income tax for that year and at the standard Thai income tax rates....ie....if you earn 500K and CGT 500K then you would pay tax on 1M, or if your 500K was earned OS and tax already paid(above Thai tax rate, which is majority of western countries), then you would pay tax on just the 500K CGT, (I could be wrong though, wouldn't be the first time!).

Adam, much appreciated. Youre really a good journalist which may be the product of being a good conversationist. What are the rates for staff in Thailand and is there an english speaking agenvy that doesnt rip you off?
@taneskhambanonda4179
@taneskhambanonda4179 4 ай бұрын
For non-english speaking maid, it would be around 15,000 baht/month (Laos or Myanmar), 20,000 /month (Thai) and 24,000/month for english-speaking maid. Any Thai agency will happily reply to your e-mail in english. Unlike China or Japan, english is a subject taught in Thai schools so most Thai can understand some english although they are not fluent speakers. Philippines maids can speak better english but there is added expense to renew their annual work visa.

@adam, what happens at the end of the 30 year lease? New sub, and love your dad’s channel also.
@adamparker21
@adamparker21 5 ай бұрын
The way I understand it is this… the leasehold agreement can be renewed for an additional 30-years, but it’s important to note that the option to renew (through a renewal clause in the leasehold contract) isn’t guaranteed under Thai Law and is instead considered a contract obligation or ‘promise’ and not a real lease right of the lessee. Often times, you’ll see advertisements for 30 + 30 + 30 year leasehold agreements, but only the first 30-years would be a real lease right of the lessee in that world. Would you have any issues with the renewal process if there was a renewal clause properly written into the initial contract? Probably not. But it’s not a 100% guarantee as far as a I understand it. In order to properly renew the leasehold agreement, it would need to be re-registered at the local land office for another 30-years. Of course, it’s best to have a reputable lawyer advise you as you don’t want to be left in a vulnerable position

Very nice Interview and a great VDO, Adam! The only thing I do not understand from Marc is that he goes for a retirement visa instead of taking an Elite Visa. He clearly has the money for it and you get rid of all the hassle and bureaucracy involved with the yearly renewal of the retirement visa....
@blorg8206
@blorg8206 5 ай бұрын
You have to renew Elite every year just the same if you don't leave. Elite now is 5m THB for 20 years, so 250,000/year ($7,000) vs 1,900 a year ($50) to renew retirement. And that's $7k/year if you don't consider how much 5m would appreciate if you invested it instead, S&P500 doubles every 7 years on average so 5m now could be 10m in 7y, 20m in 14y, 40m in 21 years. That's over a million dollars, potentially, if you invested it. Getting a bit pricey now, no? And really, it's just the visa. Any of the perks, airport limo, fast track, you can just buy yourself if you want them, and for a lot less money than ponying up 5m in advance. Some stuff is even harder on Elite because it's such a niche visa, like you have to go to Bangkok to move it into a new passport. Retirement you can just go to your local immigration office. Some provinces won't give full drivers licenses to Elite, as it's a tourist visa, they will to retirement as it's non-immigrant. There are other gotchas as well, it's not half as "privileged" as people think. It's actually incredibly bureaucratic, you DON'T get away from that, you still have do 90 day reports with all the plebs. And while Elite will do that they add their own deadlines on top of Thai immigration's ones, and you have to go to their office twice, to drop off and pick it up a week later. Or anyone on any visa, can just do 90 day online in 5 minutes, I have never got Elite to do it because it's a much bigger hassle than just doing it myself. There are other things, like one thing which was quite important I was literally 5 minutes over a deadline (which they only notified us of with

Great topic & video Adam, I've just subbed 👍 I was wondering as Marc is in & out of Thailand often & not there all year round he mentioned he has full time staff, does he employ them all year round or are they just on a casual contract & only work for him while he's in the country. I'm thinking of maybe setting up a base in Thailand staying maybe 3 to 4 months of the year & if I purchase a property would probably looking for 2 or 3 staff & just wanting to know the set up for something like this. I think he mentioned a yearly budget of around $70K which took into consideration his life style & staff ie chief, driver & gardener. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. Regard AL

I so Proud to be Thai , but live in Holland 😂 ,พ่อของลูกๆ ไปเที่ยวที่เมืองไทย3-4ต่อปี เค้าชอบปาร์ตี้กับผญ (ยอมรับในการตัดสินของเค้า ชีวิตของเค้า) ส่วนฉันชอบอะไรที่แตกต่าง รักสงบกับครอบครัว . ขอไห้คนต่างชาติ ใช้ชีวิตในเมืองไทยอย่างมีสติ และมีความสุขในเมืองใทยค่ะ🙏🙏🙏
