this highlights the stupidity of modern pollution regulations. To get around the strict emissions rules car makers have made the engines smaller and added a turbo. The logic behind it all is the test is done at a low speed so the turbo isn't fully spooled up. The laugh is when the turbo is fully spooled up the engine puts out just as much or even more emissions than the older naturally aspirated fuel injected large engine. To top off the stupidity consumers end up with a more expensive and less reliable vehicle.

YES Scotty! CVT's and turbos do not equate with a long lasting car! We have had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS with some of our family cars with CVT's/turbos! But our old VW with the 24v VR6 and old Mazda Miata just keep on going, even after 20 years and hundreds of thousands of miles! Most of the new cars today are a lot more complicated, and just plain SUCK when it comes to longevity. Most, not all.

Back in the '70's, other car makers struggled with and fought CAFE emission regs. Honda already had cars that got great mpg and were 5-7 years ahead of the CAFE standards, simply by swirling the flame front for better, less polluting combustion. I own a 2003 CRV. The engine is great. Sips a little oil but it has 230,000 miles. The only crappy part about these cars is their A/C compressors. And the after market compressors are worse than the original. I’m on my third A/C Compressor and I’ve replaced all the other stuff each time. Thanks for taking the time to do your videos. Have learned a lot.

I had the 2003 Honda accord with the k-series engine like that. It sipped on oil and leaked it from the valve gasket after 200k miles. Those engines are bullet proof. Reliable all around, it wasn’t the most gas efficient compared to a hybrid but the maintenance cost, fuel insurance were low and parts were so easily accessible. I agree with Scotty all the way lol 😊
