Hey Jon, the water is turned blue from water dye, I worked in the aquatic chemical application industry for a few years, copper sulfate is the word you were looking for, but that is used to treat mainly surface algae and does not tint the water. But you are correct, with the right amounts the fish will not be hurt, if you put in too much, it can deprive them of oxygen and they could die!

They have only treated about half of the lake, I know a lot of guys down south who do it for their ponds as the water is super murky. Normally you just dump part of it in the water (which turns it blue) not really the intended purpose but the second part causes all the junk in the water to fall to the bottom making it really clear. I honesty don't know how to explain it but it's a two part system which makes most of the junk that floats in the water to sink to the bottom resulting in relatively clean looking water. If you ever go to a former rock quarry and the water is super clear this is why, these things are common in rock quarry so if they are filled to make a pond they tend to be rather clear to about 15-ish feet.

First time posting, love this guy. Jon B., no you didn't need $1500 worth of work on your 2016 Rig Runner, but I get it. We have a 2015 Land Cruiser and I will not be doing front or rear differential, transfer case until 100k when I do the first tune up. Oil/filter every 5k, Ive done rotor turn at 35k (will likely need another at 70-75K), rotors and pads at 60k (wife drives it all in city, harsh on her), but even the Toyota mechanics at my location are saying "ignore the recommended maintenance, you're okay for x, y, z" meaning what I am typing. I did tires at 30k because the Dunlop that came on her were garbage, and I had to go BFG KO2. Keep in mind, this is a truck I bought to own for 20 years. My 7 year old daughter (at the time) will drive this when she is 16. Possibly all three of my kids (the other two who are younger) could as well. After all, it is a Toyota. Most people do not even change the oil when they should. That is what they are counting on when they design these vehicles and thats why most of them are still on the road today at 200-300k miles. Land Cruiser is a different story...I chose it because look at the international use of this...used in the desert...used in places where Toyota Mechanics dont exist...and they plow on. Anyway, another sweet video, thank you for teaching me to fish, and thank you for the unbelievable videography...you're almost more of a videographer than you are a fisherman and that is saying A TON!!! Love the music choices btw...thanks for all you do for the fishing community.

Dude, you can easily learn about cars. Literally what I did was buy a cheap tool set that came in its own case from target for $40, a repair manual for my car (which you can find and most auto parts stores), and a low end OBD2 reader. Now I do the vast majority of my own repairs and it saves me SO much money. If you ask the dealer what their hourly work rate is I bet you'll be shocked.

If you aren't savvy, your best bet is scouring 4Runner/Toyota forums, even signing up and asking questions. When I was just learning car stuff, forums were a huge help. I'd ask questions, save hundreds, sometimes thousands. I am always super cautious, because it takes more than the jaws of life to pry my wallet open at a stealership

Truthfully depends on what type swimbait your planning on running with that rig... Mainly what range of weights.

Word of advice to all, simply read owner manuals that come with your car, they will tell you the maintenance schedule. If the miles are not even close (as they were WAY OFF in this case), then deny the service. Always request, get it in writing or on video (?), that you want them to CALL prior to any additional service.

The fluid still breaks down due to heat. Did he need all that? Probably not. Do the manufactures recommend those services? Yes. Also you can inadvertently void your warranty if you skip too many services.

Youd be super surprised how much pressure that fluid has when it leaves the pump. Probably close to 50 or 60 pounds of fluid pressure

Watch some Scotty Kilmore bruh, but seriously they call them stealerships for a reason. Fluids and brakes are the easiest jobs to do on a car and there are plenty of KZfaq videos out there. Furthermore it’s a Toyota, it shouldn’t need anything besides brakes, oil and filters up to 100k.

1st of all, i watched a lot of your videos!! they are AWESOME!! 2nd thing, when you go to the dealership for recalls, just have them do the recalls & warranty work only, nothing else. for oil changes & other needs & inspections, go to mom & pops garages. you will save a ton of $$ going to them than the dealership. & they don't do unnecessary maintenance or repairs....
