Am a self studying student of calculus, and taking guided by what book to buy, and recently finally I ordered James Stewart Calculus " earlier transcendental" for the entire calculus course!.

You missed one curious detail: Allyn J. Washington was a descendant of the first president.

We used this book for all the math courses in the Electronics Engineering Technology program I did in the early 90s! It was the first calculus courses I ever took and this book was excellent! I still have it (5th edition).

My first semester of college I was in the library studying for calc1. This is back in 2005. I walked out and there was a cart of books the library had discarded and were free. I got this but the version without calculus just basic technical math. Then I also got The Calculus 3rd edition by Leithold which has become my favorite calculus book. Still have both after 20 years.

I saw the video thumbnail last night and I get into work today (I work at a bookstore) and someone had ordered a copy of this book(!!!?!?!!!?)

I have similar book called "Essentials Of Technical Mathematics With Calculus" by Richard Paul & M. Leonard Shaevel. My copy is a 40 year old hardback. The only problem with it, is the Imperial measurements it uses. I only understand Metric.

This seems like most of my engineering level math courses combined in a single book...

Back in the 90s at SUNY/Farmingdale, I blame this absolutely terrible instructor and the equally terrible textbook of the same name, but by Paul Calter, for making my introduction to calculus the worst college course I can ever recall having.
