This is what kills me, you never see positive stories like this about Tesla, only the negative. "The wheels are coming off Tesla" was one, "Tesla Erupts in Chaos after execs leave" was another, and those were just today's headlines. Where's the "Tesla's run forever with only minor repairs" headlines?

Michael Schend I mean they did lose 17 dollars of their stock in a day because Musk was smoking weed and an exec left...
@Hans-gb4mv
@Hans-gb4mv 5 жыл бұрын
MarLap2000, I don't think that smoking weed had any big impact on the stock price. The 2 execs leaving on the other hand was not good news of course. And yes, there are many positive stories about Tesla cars just like you have many positives about other products. But it's the issues and how you resolve that that in the end would interest me more as a potential customer. And while I do believe that Tesla will be here for years to come, I also fear that it will take at least another year before we finally get to see a stable company that runs smooth.

The Brown RAT I was referring to a guy with over 200,000 miles who’s total repairs added up to $1500, but no one hears those stories. Not saying every Tesla will do this but every negative story makes the news. Logic dictates fewer moving parts WILL equal less maintenance.

Abitamim Bharmal in reality when the battery need to be replace it cost a fortune, this video is just a skewer that Tesla intentionally selected for marketing purpose.also any minor body work would easily cost above $10000.

+fan euro Agree with the body work, that's one of my major concerns. But why would I need to replace my battery? Unless something really goes wrong or it has degraded to the point that it needs replacing, which would take hundred thousands of miles (both scenarios which pose "similarly priced" concerns in regular cars too)...

Nobody wants to invest in electric car charging. The main problem is that a car will be sat in a space for a number of hours. Public charging access is going to be a future problem for 100% electric cars as they become more popular. Cars take a few hours to charge and all that time are occupying a lot of real estate. Of course batteries will get better and capacities will be greater and charging time may well be reduced.

Wow 200k miles and only a battery and door handle was the only part that failed? I think the maintenance costs might be a tad more, brakes, discs, tyres, servicing etc. Is the warranty still set at 50k miles? That seems very low, so many manufacturers offering a far superior package. I would like to get an electric car, and a Tesla isn't ruled out. But such a small warranty on an big expensive car is a worry.

The original battery needed to be replaced around 68K miles at no cost to him (infinite mile warranty for 8 years on battery and motors) no trouble with the battery since it was swapped with the newer generation battery. Now a days there is a multitude of stories about Teslas approaching the half million mile mark with little to no issue.

How often do you intend/need to supercharge? Unless you travel further than 250 miles round trip from home, you don't need to supercharge. In most cases, most people will charge at home, only using superchargers when taking a road trip. I don't have a Tesla (yet) but in the past year I would have only needed supercharging on three trips. Most driving I do is around town and trips to Las Vegas which is usually 120 to 150 miles round trip, depending on LV driving -- Costco, dining, etc. If you live in a condo or apartment and your workplace doesn't offer a charging option, then you have a valid point.
