Guys I've been playing for 27 years single fig hcp. Never really compressed the ball always caught it a bit clean. Also I had the hosel 🚀 for 10 straight years. Two things improved by making this change only yesterday during a lesson I was having. Two things happened I started hitting the ground in front of the ball and my strike moved mid-toe which is the winning ticket for a golfer like me started to get my draw back without trying. Didnt know whether to try this with the driver too but watchingbthe full video think I will try it next time out. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿⛳

Well Eric. Congrats on another great video. The first AH HA moment is when i watched your "The Missing Link in Your Backswing, How to Tilt" I've always fought with push hooks and straight hooks, because of a flat backswing. Well this kept me more on plane and now I'm hitting soft draws. My ball striking is awesome. I shot a 38, 39 and 42. The round with the 42 I missed 3 par putts and one birdie putt. @@CogornoGolf How do you feel about one plane mixed with S&T ala Bryson/Moe Norman style? I know Bryson is not S&T 100% but I tried it (one plane outstretched hands) awhile back 2007 with good success then I let 100's of golf tips in and screwed myself. Right now I am sticking strictly with S&T and working on that as my main system but thought maybe the mix of the two would create the most consistency? Your thoughts?
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf 3 жыл бұрын
Hey man! I think its really too broad of a subject to say yay or nay to. Every single golfer has stack and tilt elements. Its a great systematic way to learn and teach the swing. technically no one swings on one plane...but if those thoughts/ feels help thats cool! I think the correct thing to do is work with a great coach and objectively find the things you need to work on to improve your contact, ball control, direction, etc. Whatever "system" or method that falls into doesn't matter much to me.

@CogornoGolf

For sure less tilt with driver... you want to replace your forward bend with your side bend So Driver you are the tallest at setup (less forward bend) so you will have less tilt in backswing to maintain inclination to ground

Eric, this is again a wonderful and important video and, yet, I have a question left! Assume a specific forward bending and also assume that you do not move the head at all while tilting (you are a very good example for this), then - in my opinion - the tilting is unique and cannot be influenced. Is this correct? Assume an extreme situation: a forward bending of 90 degrees (i.e., horizontally), if you then rotate by 90 degress, your tilt will be vertical! Thus, the question is: if the forward bending remains constant and the head does not move, is the tilt unique and cannot be influenced any more?
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Bernhard! Thanks for the question! I'm not sure exactly what you are asking here, though :) Can we define "unique" "is the tilt unique and cannot be influenced any more?" Can you re phrase?
@13leib
@13leib 3 жыл бұрын
@@CogornoGolf Thank you for asking again. Now I do know I was wrong! Nevertheless, I will try to explain what bothered me. I thought, the shoulder tilt is fully correlated to (or connected with) the forward bending only and there is no other option to influence it in case you do not move your head. Yet, this is not true. This may be demonstrated simply: if you are in an upright position and keep your head constant, then you can tilt your shoulder! Accordingly, you can do it when you are forward bent and rotated! Thank you for your patience!

@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Eddie! Yes---since you are literally getting your body closer to the ground than you normally do....you need to shorter another lever. That usually means keep trail arm more bent and trail wrist more bent back in downswing. If you normally turn flat you are farther from the ground and have to straighten arms and wrists to get to the ball. Thats an educated guess without seeing your swing but I would start there

At what stage of the back swing one should feel the pressure on the trail foot ankle? Is it when the arms are parallel to the ground? The reason people does not till as much is because they want to put pressure on the back ankle on the back swing and it automatically come up because if one continue to till during back swing then it is difficult to put pressure on the back foot ankle? Pls advise thanks.🙏

@CogornoGolf

It for sure can..... the reality is ANYTHING in the swing you can do too much, too little, too early, too late. Thats why the game is so hard :) The idea is to have a CHECKPOINT to hit so you can adjust your feels to that checkpoint. A good checkpoint for shoulder tilt is 90* to your back line

As someone who struggled with the swing problems described in the first five minutes of the video, I’m of the opinion that more shoulder tilt is not the fix to those problems. To me, the fix is learning how to backswing properly, with the arms moving back in unison, to the inside, and the shoulders also rotating in unison. I still can’t tilt my shoulders, but I fixed my swing quite nicely anyway. Why swing back to the inside? Because the ball gets struck from the inside on the downswing. It’s simply a back and forth motion on the identical path. Now that I’ve learned a proper backswing motion, I found that tilt on the backswing was just not relevant to fixing my swing at all. I’m not saying it’s not good teaching. I’m just saying not everyone’s body can tilt like that. Just my opinion, based on my own experience.

@@CogornoGolf Thank you Eric. And you're right. Everyone tilts. I looked at my swing on video and I actually developed some tilt, by pure accident, when I learned a proper backswing. All's well that ends well :-)

Your videos on shoulder tilt and trail wrist extension are $. Quick question: should the shoulders tilt steeply/toward the ball with driver, too? Or should the driver be more like the flat/wrong tilt so that you can get behind it and hit up? It makes sense to do this with shots on the ground but curious as to the tilt with driver.

Hey! Thanks! The idea is you replace the amount of forward bend with side bend So SW you are bent over the most so you side bend the mot Driver you are bent over the least so you tilt the least Shoulders tilted roughly 90* to forward bend at address a good place to start

I don't understand-it is not really a "tilting". You bend at the waist to address the ball and rotate around your spine. In general, the angle of the swing that is created is determined more by the height of the player-more than anything else. Generally, taller players have more "tilt" and shorter players have less "tilt"...and it is otherwise of little consequence-because this is an individual thing. Each of us have to find our (individual) best way in this.

Golf instructors never teach from a 1st person perspective or what the golfers should be observing with their eyes while they’re swinging. That is why they rarely help anyone. Simply “swing like this” and then “it should feel like this”.This is just another example.

Left shoulder down plus rotation IS thebackswing....the phease one piece takeaway is misleading!
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf 3 жыл бұрын
Yep! Im OK with one piece for a general idea but you do need to tilt and turn (and extend) like you mention! One piece for the arms and club for the first foot or so of backing is GOOD kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nKeKeq-Hl67Uiac.html

If in the back swing, the right hip is higher than the left..and if you sink your left knee towards the ground, your left shoulder will tilt even more. Anyway, Palmer had an unattractive swing. Ben Hogan's right hip was lower than the left in the back swing, and with a flatter shoulder turn, that alone....makes the forward swing way easier to come from the inside. You don't tilt the left shoulder to throw a pebble in the water, or throw a club into the driving range with the right hand. I already mention in the past what Greg Norman says about shoulders turn...do not create pressure, it should be comfortable, don't fight it. He is absolutely correct. Most golf pros are pathetic in my opinion, and that guy Jess is not any better.

Comfortable is a relative term. For Norman, tilt was comfortable so he can say it. 99% of the best strikers in the world have tilt. Hogan had god given talent that enabled him to compensate for his flat shoulder plane just as Furyk has god given talent that allows him to compensate for his extreme tilt. They are both outliers.

Hey Rudy! Normally I would not take the time nor spend energy on a message like this. But I will due to the rude comments at the end about pros and Jess alike. Have you ever seen any swings measured in 3d? I have. Thousands. Every single one has left side bend during the backswing. Every one. There are none without it. Zero. Not one. What we are presenting in this video is not opinion. It is measured fact. Go ahead and do some more research and you will learn for yourself.

@@CogornoGolf , atta boy , Eric ! You’re correct ! I am wondering if some players might do better w / the side bend thought more than focusing on going down w/ the left shoulder . Both Jack & Sam Snead always warmed up w / the club behind the lower back to emphasize a pivot of the midsection . Of the three pivot drills , front of shoulders , back of neck and lower back , I think the lower back turns the shoulders for you without ending up w / a rev. pivot backswing . Just a thought . John ( Percy Boomer : “If you keep the feel of the pivot , the shoulders moving in response to the pivot , and the arms moving in response to the shoulders , nothing much can go wrong with your game “ .)

The part that confused me is tilting from the “shoulders” causes the poor upwards motion. You actually tilt from your core and pelvis.
